Quest Group: Chapter 4 - Mastering the Source
Starting Map: Reaper's Coast
To start this quest you should talk to Ryker and offer him your help. You will find him in the Ryker's Rest.
Ryker told us of an ancient cavern beneath the Blackpits region, while bidding us to retrieve a particular tablet for him. He was not willing to travel to this place himself, however - we should anticipate danger ahead.
We have learned that the Magisters laid traps that block safe passage through the caverns of the Blackpits. They themselves have to rely upon a guide in order to get past their own traps safely, so we should exercise particular caution while entering the caverns.
Go to the Blackpits and enter the cave - To Blackpits Caverns.
We have reached a cavern that is protected by an array of Magister-set traps. We should try to find a way to continue - no doubt something important is happening down here.
There is a strong Magister presence in the caverns beneath the Blackpits. They're after something, it seems.
Find and read Official Memo.
We learned that the Magisters have been under pressure from Dallis to pick up the pace of their activities in the caverns.
Find Magister Gremory (Magisters vs Voidwoken (lvl 13)), kill him then loot and read Excavation Log.
We learned that the Magisters uncovered something that they referred to as 'The Aeteran'. They seems to be in a hurry to send it to Dallis, that can't be a good thing.
Find Journal and read it.
It seems there have been strange events unfolding at the excavation site - inexplicable visions and sensations have assailed those working down here, unnerving them. Just what kind of power is at work down here...?
Find Eerie Tablet.
We found a strange tablet covered in runes. When we touched it, we experienced a sensation of being in a dark, endless void. A voice called out 'Godwoken' to us. What was that place...?
Find Eerie Tablet / Tablet of the Eternals.
We came a across an odd, rune-inscribed tablet them seemed to glow from within. When we touched it, we felt tremendous energy flow through us. Somehow, we knew that the inscriptions were ancient Rivellonian. A phrase came to our mind's eye - 'One must rise'. Then, the sensation passed. Clearly an ancient power lingers here.
We learned from a Magister spirit that Dallis and Vredeman are looking for a powerful object called 'The Aeteran'. This supposedly has an infinite ability to take Source from anything and anyone.
We learned from a Magister spirit that Vredeman oversaw the excavation in order to find a powerful object called 'The Aeteran'. Dallis seemingly had plans to use this artefact against Sourcerers.
A Black Ring prisoner told us that the Magisters were looking for some ancient relics down in the nearby caverns.
A Black Ring prisoner told us that Dallis was looking for some sort of powerful object called 'The Aeteran'.
Go to Ancient Temple.
We found an ancient temple of sorts, in the deepest part of the Blackpits caverns.
The temple appears to be protected by some form of magical barrier. Perhaps we can find a way to tamper with it.
Take Diary from Skeleton and read it.
Rhalic - Earth
Duna - Air
Tir-Cendelius - Blood
Zorl-Stissa - Fire
Vrogir - Muscle
Xantessa - Mind
Amadia - Magic
We learned that some time ago, an archaeologist called Wulfrum made it as far as the temple. He uncovered a link between the pillars to the Seven, and specific elements or traits. His studies drew the following conclusions for each god: Rhalic - Earth, Duna - Air, Tir-Cendelius - Blood, Zorl-Stissa - Fire, Vrogir - Muscle, Xantessa - Mind, Amadia - Magic. It seems that Wulfrum's helpers feared what was down here, and Wulfrum himself started to hear faint voices in his sleep. We should remain on alert.
Check out the Sculpture with Glyphs to learn the riddle.
Our first lord's babes with power glowed, our second's born in blood that flowed.
Our third's young to the wind return, our fourth's to glowing flames adjourn.
Our fifth lord's cubs with minds were blessed, our sixth's had brawn beyond the rest.
Our seventh's brood spread from earth to glen, and thus no King shall rise again.
Then use the pillars in the correct order - Amadia, Tir-Cendelius, Duna, Zorl-Stissa, Xantezza, Vrogir, and finally Rhalic.
We managed to remove the magical barrier surrounding the temple.
Open Ancient Sarcophagus. The Eternal Aetera will appear.
We opened a sarcophagus, freeing a strange, ancient being that called itself an Eternal. She seemed to be quite dismayed to lay eyes on us, as we bear the likeness of 'the Seven lords'. The being noted that our gods must have won their conflict with her kind after they sealed her in this place, and remarked that we, their creations, seem to be little more than 'Source Vats'. Just what is this 'Eternal'? And what does she mean...?
The Eternal spoke of a strange Source-consuming device named 'The Aeteran'.
The Eternal spoke of a strange Source-consuming device called 'The Aeteran' - same thing that Dallis sought!
We were unable to reason with the Eternal - it tried to kill us and absorb our Source. We had no choice but to kill it.
We killed the Eternal.
Take Ancient Stone Tablet from the Energy Chest.
We found an ancient tablet deep beneath the Blackpits. It seemed to bear pictographs of how to construct some sort of scythe. An odd thing to keep down here - perhaps it's more important than it looks.
We departed from Reaper's Coast without investigating the caverns beneath the Blackpits.
