This main quest starts automatically after you kill the first Templar - Julien du Casse - that is, after completing the "A Single Madman" quest.
Edward explores his new Great Inagua hideout, and discovers more than a few strange secrets there.

Approach James Kidd and talk to him. Follow him deeper into the island, and after a short while, he will lead you to a location with several large stone blocks - a remnant of the Maya civilization.
You now need to solve a relatively simple puzzle. To start solving it, climb onto the highest stone block.
To complete the puzzle, you must rotate, move, and resize the glowing symbol to align it with the stone blocks. The correct arrangement is shown in the screenshot below.
Step off the stone and interact with the large, glowing gold circle on the ground. This will grant you the Maya artifact hidden beneath it - you have just solved your first Mayan Stelae.
Follow Kidd once again. You will reach a cave that leads into the basement of Julien du Casse's mansion, and then head up the stairs into the main living room.
During the cutscene, you will check what is inside the living room. The key you took from Julien is one of five keys needed to unlock the mysterious cage containing an interesting set of armor. A new side quest will be unlocked - Damn Fine Gear.
After checking the map lying on the table, you will discover the locations you should head to in order to find the four remaining Templar members - which will unlock their associated quests: Antó, Upton Travers, Rhona Dinsmore, and Opía Apito.
You will also meet Bernard Edmund Woodhouse, the local butler, who will inform you about the option to decorate the mansion's interior with found artwork and that the local residents need help - which will result in an additional side quest - Former Glories - and the ability to upgrade the manor.
Head to the docks and go to the marked pier where James Kidd's ship is moored.
You will talk for a moment - he will inform you where he will be waiting for you, and then he will sail away.
Follow Adéwalé and pick up the supply crate where you stop.
Hint:
Continue following Adéwalé toward the tavern, and when he puts down the crate he was carrying, do the same with yours. Talk to Adéwalé once more, and he will present his plan to resolve the issues with your ship and crew - you will receive two additional officer quests: "A Proper Shipwright" and "A Second Chance", after which this main quest will end and the next one - Nothing is True... - will be unlocked.
