This is the opening main mission in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced, starting automatically with a new game. Set in 1715, it throws you straight into a chaotic naval battle aboard the ship Edward Kenway is serving on. Besides introducing the story, this mission also acts as a tutorial, teaching you the game's core mechanics, including movement, combat, and other essential gameplay features.
Edward has found himself in a bit of trouble. His only aim is to survive, against all odds and all attacks.
1. Take the wheel
Run to the ship's stern, approach the wheel, and interact with it.
2. Sink enemy ships
Maneuver your ship to avoid incoming fire and target enemy vessels with your broadside cannons. Focus on the largest ship.
Once its health bar drops to zero, a cutscene will trigger - an explosion on your ship will send you falling into the water.
3. Reach the shore
Swim toward the shore. To bypass the burning debris floating on the water, you must dive and cover part of the distance underwater.
Once you reach the shore, another cutscene will trigger - after a brief conversation with a mysterious guy, he will flee into the jungle.
4. Find the Assassin
Head deeper into the island. The path you should follow is very straightforward - but there is no need to rush, so feel free to take your time exploring the nearby areas and gathering some loot.
Following the markers, you will eventually reach an area near a stream where you will encounter the Assassin again. He will not want to talk to you - he will shoot at you and run away.
5. Chase the Assassin
Continue following the direction in which the assassin fled until you reach a larger, open area covered in shallow water. The assassin will make another attempt on your life, but he will fail, resulting in a sword duel.
6. Kill the Assassin
The fight with the assassin - whose name is Duncan Walpole - serves as a tutorial for the melee combat system. Attack your opponent to break his defense, and use counterattacks when you see the right moment. A blue flash indicates a counter window, while a red flash signals an attack you need to dodge. Once you weaken your opponent, execute a finisher to end the duel. You will acquire Duncan Walpole's Robes and the Glass Cube.
7. Find a way to Havana
Move forward to the next viewpoint and perform a Leap of Faith. Next, head toward the beach and the ship docked in the bay.
8. Free the merchant
A stealth tutorial will begin on the beach. Hide in the high grass and quietly eliminate the guards guarding the tied-up merchant. You can lure enemies to your position by whistling. Once all the guards are defeated, approach the merchant to set him free. His name is Stede Bonnet.
9. Reach the wheel
Swim to the ship, board it, and approach the wheel.
10. Sail out of the bay
Set sail and navigate out of the bay through the narrow strait, watching out for rocks. Once you reach the open sea, a cutscene will play as you reach Havana, ending this mission and starting the next one.
