This quest begins automatically after you manage to escape the enemy fleet and storm - which takes place at the end of "The Treasure Fleet" main quest. You've acquired your first ship, and now you must take care of it and its crew.

Once you investigate all the clues, Adéwalé will suggest that ocelots are responsible. You decide to deal with them.
Use Eagle Vision to easily locate two ocelots roaming on the neighboring island.
Using a pistol and/or a sword, kill both animals and then skin them. Be careful, as they aren't docile kitties and can deal a lot of damage.
Open your inventory and craft the upgrade.
Simply return to the ship and talk to Adéwalé to receive a second pistol from him, which you can put in your newly upgraded pistol holster. This quest will end, and the next one will be unlocked - Now Hiring.
