Quest Group: Chapter 6 - The Hunt for Dallis
Type: Main Quest
Starting Map: Arx
This quest will be added to your journal once you leave The Nameless Isle and reach Arx.
The Lady Vengeance crash-landed into a mountainside overlooking the city of Arx.
Malady reminded us that we have to find Dallis, and stop her from doing whatever she has planned for the Aeteran and the powers that she stole with it. She suggested we start searching for her among the local Divine Order.
Talk to The Spirit of a Paladin Protector.
We learned that Dallis and Vredeman arrived in Arx aboard the Lord Dread.
Talk to The Lord Dread Figurehead.
The Lord Dread told us that it carried Dallis and Vredeman, along with their 'soldiers with no souls' to Arx. Curiously, the ship also claimed that both Dallis and Vredeman were older than it, despite it having lived as an Ancestor Tree and an elf prior to its current form. A mistake surely...?
Kill Vampiric Voidwokens (lvl 18), Captain Ana Orell will come and talk to you.
We learned that Lord Linder Kemm, leader of the Paladins, can be found at the Magister Barracks. The Paladins captured it from the Magisters following an uprising. We should speak to Kemm about Dallis - perhaps he knows something about what she's up to in Arx with the Aeteran at her side.
Enter the Barracks.
We found the Magister Barracks, the centre of their operations. The Paladins have ransacked the place and killed the Magisters. We should look around.
Talk to Lord Linder Kemm. Tell him ...
*Remember what Captain Orell said. Ask him if he knows where Dallis might be.*
The result will be ...
Kemm confirmed to us that Dallis arrived in the city aboard the Lord Dread. He does not know where she went, however. He is focused on searching for the head of the White Magisters, Reimond. If we find Reimond ourselves, perhaps we will learn where Dallis is.
Enter the vault beneath the Magister Barracks. See The Last Stand of the Magisters quest description for more details how to do this.
We found a hidden vault beneath the Magister Barracks - perhaps down there we can find out more about Dallis' movements, and what she intends to do with the Aeteran.
Find and read Journal.
After exploring hidden vaults beneath the Magister Barracks, we learned that Dallis intends to access the Tomb of Lucian, at the Cathedral. We're going to have to do the same, if we're to have any hope of stopping her - she's still in possession of the Aeteran, and within it, the powers that she stole. Whatever she has planned can't be good.
Find and read the Journal with Note.
We have learned that Vredeman is in fact Braccus Rex, resurrected by Dallis so that she could use him to acquire the Aeteran. We'll have to exercise extreme caution when confronting her, if she has the mad Sourcerer king as a lackey...
Find and read Open Report.
We learned that Lord Arhu is the Keeper of the Cathedral. It seems that anyone who wishes to enter to Tomb of Lucian will need his help.
Talk to Brother Lyle.
We have reached the Cathedral, but in order to enter the Tomb of Lucian, we must first survive a rite known as the Path of Blood. We ought to look into how to get past it.
We found a letter stolen from Dallis hidden in Kemm's attic - it seems that he must have been spying on her for some time... but this doesn't seem like part of an offical Paladin investigation. What's he up to?
We found a strange mirror hidden in Kemm's attic. When we gazed into it, we saw the final moments of a hideous being, trapped in a cave of fire and molten rock. Who was that, and why does Kemm have such a device...?
We found a Black Ring mirror hidden in Kemm's attic - when we gazed into it, we saw the final moments the Sallow Man, trapped surrounded by fire and molten rock as the Nameless Isle was destroyed. How did Kemm come by this? Was he spying on the Black Ring... or doing something else?
Enter Arhu's Quarters.
Lord Arhu is missing. We need to find him, or else find another way to enter the Tomb of Lucian.
We found a journal written by Lord Arhu. It seems that he has been having doubts about how Lucian instructed him to prevent anyone from entering his Tomb. He seems to have been at a loss regarding the late Divine's intentions, and wondered what he would do if he saw what became of the world in his absence.
Find and read Arhu's Journal.
We learned how both Dallis and Kemm had been separately pressuring Arhu to unseal the Tomb of Lucian. He steadfastly refused, yet it seems that even he would not have been able to help them past all of the protections that surround the Divine's resting place. Arhu seemed to be torn with doubts about his adherence to Lucian's wishes, while the Void was threatening the world.
Kemm tried to stop us freeing Arhu. It seems that was a servant of the God King, and was tasked with finding out what Arhu knows about how to enter the Tomb of Lucian.
Release Windego from the cage and talk to her.
Windego informed us that Linder Kemm is Sworn to the God King.
Talk to Lord Linder Kemm after you talked to Windego.
We confronted Kemm over what Windego told us about him, but he denied the accusation. Perhaps we were wrong to trust what she told us...
We found Lord Arhu. He told us all that he knew about how to enter the Tomb of Lucian - we must get past the statue of Lucian at the Path of Blood by using a particular amulet and the Scroll of Atonement - both of which can acquired from a Toyseller named Sanders in the city. The amulet must be worn in order to charge it with Source, then it can be placed in a hidden mechanism at the Path of Blood. Then, the words upon the Scroll of Atonement must be read, and the way forward will be revealed. He also warned us of the Death Room - a place filled with named levers, most of which trigger traps. Pulling the five levers bearing initials that spell 'power' will let us continue safely, however. He concluded by warning us that nobody knows the full sequence to enable safe passage all the way to the Tomb of Lucian - there will be further perils ahead.
Lord Arhu is dead, but his spirit told us all that he knew about how to enter the Tomb of Lucian - we must get past the statue of Lucian at the Path of Blood by using a particular amulet and the Scroll of Atonement - both of which can acquired from a Toyseller named Sanders in the city. Talk to Bewitched Moppet.
We found a living Source puppet hiding in a small camp near the waterfront. The puppet said that it fled from a 'room of death' beneath 'a great hall of weepers and chanters'. Could it have been speaking of the Cathedral...?
The Source Puppet mentioned that there are many levers which lead to death in the room where it came from, but only a few spell 'power'. It told us that we must seek power in order to win freedom. What could it mean...?
We discovered that part of the Source puppet bore an inscription of sorts - 'P.O.W.E.R.' Perhaps it has something to do with the place it came from...
Find and read Report on the Toyseller.
We learned that Toyseller Sanders engineered parts of the protective measures that surround the Tomb of Lucian. We ought to seek him out.
Talk to Toyseller Sanders and convince him to help you to get past the Path of Blood in the Cathedral. He will give you Source Amulet.
We have acquired a Source Amulet - it needs to be worn and filled with Source before we can use it.
We have managed to fill the amulet with Source.
Toyseller Sanders has told us how to pass the first part of the Path of Blood. We will need a Source-filled amulet, and the Scroll of Atonement. The scroll should be located in the locked desk upstairs in Sanders' house - the password is 'Giyora'. When we have both it items, we can use them at the Cathedral in order to uncover a secret passage. We should look for a hidden mechanism near the statue of Lucian.
Scroll is in the Password Locked Desk.
We have acquired the Scroll of Atonement.
We have approached the Path of Blood. Will we be judged to be righteous, and allowed to pass...?
You need filled Source Amulet and Scroll of Atonement. Find the Hidden Switch and Slot, fit in the amulet, push the button and read the scroll. THen you can use the hatch To The Crypt of Lucian.
We used a trick to get past the Path of Blood and proceeded downwards.
We passed the Path of Blood and proceeded downwards.
We failed to pass the Path of Blood. There must be another way to get around it...
Open the Tomb of Lucian.
We entered the Tomb of Lucian, but there was no sign of Dallis, or the Aeteran. Could she have beaten us here...?
Use the Tomb of Lucian Altar and select
*Move your hand a palms-width along the top of the plinth.*
Setup the correct paths.
Cast the Raining Blood on the iron grating in the middle then Bless it. Use the altar again and select ...
*Lay a hand upon the stone.*
The result will be ...
We managed to complete a fiendishly-difficult puzzle that blocked us, and proceeded on.
Reach the talking door leading To The Death Room and talk to it.
A talking door warned us that we would die if we kept trying to reach the Tomb of Lucian, and told us that we should leave.
We entered a large chamber that was filled with levers... and hostile Source Puppets.
To remove the Energy Barrier blocking the passage you must pull the five levers bearing the initials which spell out POWER (Potency - Order - Wisdom - Empathy - Righteousness). The order does not matter. When you use all five levers, the remaining Battle Source Puppets (lvl 20) will die.
Lever - Potency, Lever - Order, Lever - Wisdom, Lever - Empathy, Lever - Righteousness.
We managed to pull the correct levers that allowed me to proceed.
One of the levers. See the map of Arx (The Death Room) for locations of all levers.
Go To The Crypt of Lucian. The final confrontation and your destiny awaits inside.
We carried on into what must surely be the Tomb of Lucian.
