This quest can be started in several ways, for example by talking with Almira after you reach The Nameless Isle or by using one of the Black Mirrors that allows you to contact The Sallow Man.
Notice: You can try to convince Blackring members that you are with Lone Wolves to stay neutral. You can also pretend to be Almira's thrall - you stay neutral and can trade with them.
Talk to Almira after you reach The Nameless Isle.
We have learned that Black Ring forces have invaded the Nameless Isle. We must proceed with extreme caution.
Get Black Mirror, for example from Forktongue (lvl 16) and use it to contact The Sallow Man.
The Sallow Man will tell us how to enter the Academy - the next step on the way to the Well of Ascension. But in return, he wants us to bring him the head of Alexandar.
The Black Ring are now hostile to us. Trickery or bargaining will no longer work - we must avoid them, or fight them.
Kill The Sallow Man in An Unlikely Patron quest, or help him in Thinning the Herd quest.
The Sallow Man, leader of the Black Ring forces on the Nameless Isle, is dead.
The Sallow Man has provided what is needed to enter the Academy.
We ventured onwards, leaving the Black Ring forces on the island to their fate.
