Books of Knowledge Assassin's Creed Valhalla Points of interest
Books of Knowledge unlock new Abilities and upgrade current ones. When you find a second Book of Knowledge with the same ability, that ability is upgraded / improved.
Abilities learned through Books of Knowledge can be equipped in the Abilities menu. To do so, select the necessary one when reaching the menu and then assign it to an appropriate Ability slot. Up to eight active Abilities can be assigned at once.
To find more Books of Knowledge, search for wealth in each territory. Books are often heavily guarded in monasteries or military camps.

Mark of Death▶ show the map ◀
Ranged ability. The book is located in the basement under the house. To get to the basement you need to do a few things. First, find the key in the pig enclosure.
Then destroy the pulley on which the net with stones hangs and go down through the created hole.
Use the key to unlock the door.
Get the book.
Hold [Aim Fire Button] to mark sighted enemies. Release to let fly a deadly volley of arrows.
Upgrade: Increase maximum number of targets.
Rage of Helheim▶ show the map ◀
Melee ability. The book is located in a cave hidden behind a waterfall.
Climb up to the cave and go inside.
Break the ice wall and get the book.
Enter a fit of rage and slam your enemy to the ground, leaving them helpless in face of a barrage of hits. Alternate quickly between [Defensive] and [Attack] taps to avoid losing balance.
Upgrade: Land more blows with faster taps.
Thorn of Slumber▶ show the map ◀
Ranged ability. The book is located on the lower level of the tower standing in the middle of the camp. You can get there by the ladder from the middle level of the tower.
An arrow marked with the Svefnthorn symbol puts targets to sleep almost instantly.
Upgrade: On impact, arrows expel a cloud of poison, putting anyone nearby to sleep.
Throwing Axe Fury▶ show the map ◀
Melee ability. The book is located in a cave which entrance is in the southern part of the village.
Hurl throwing axes at all enemies in range.
Upgrade: Any enemy struck will also be staggered.

Ranged ability. The book is located on the upper floor of a ruined building.
Aim and throw a devastating barrage of axes.
Upgrade: Complete the full series of Axe Blizzard adds a bloody finishing combo of extra throws.

Melee ability. The book is located in the basement of the tower.
Shoot the oil jar and then the explosion will destroy the blocked passage.
The book lies on the table.
Use stamina to move undetected. Aborts on enemy contact.
Upgrade: Successful Assassination doesn’t interrupt the ability.

Melee ability. The book is located on the upper level of the tower. To get there you must lower the ladder and get rid of the large net with crates blocking the passage.
You can get rid of the net by shooting through the window from the roof of the neighboring building at the pulley it is attached to.
Use stamina to move undetected. Aborts on enemy contact.
Upgrade: Successful Assassination doesn’t interrupt the ability.

Melee ability. The book is located in the basement of the monastery. The entrance is located in a building in the south-eastern part of the monastery.
Launch yourself into the air and come crashing down onto your enemies.
Upgrade: Inflict stun damage within a large radius of impact.

Melee ability. The part of the building where you will find the book can be accessed through the neighboring part of the building. You have to kill a few enemies on your way and then walk along the ropes to the platform where the book is located.

Melee ability. The book is hidden behind a banner in one of the caves.
Fool enemies by playing dead.

Ranged ability. The book is located in the upper castle. You visit this place during the "In the Absence of an Ealdorman" quest.
Use the power of the Nornir to aim and shoot at your enemies with fateful speed.

Ranged ability. The book is located in the cave which can be accessed through a crack in one of the basement rooms.

Harpoon Impalement▶ show the map ◀
Melee ability. The book is underground. The entrance is located northeast of the marker.
Underground, you will have to destroy the wooden wall, swim, climb and shoot into an oil jug which, exploding, will destroy the wall blocking the passage.
Impale an enemy with your harpoon and throw them in any direction using [Movement]. Enemies who strike objects or other enemies will suffer massive damage.
Upgrade: Eivor can finish by pulling the enemy close and killing them with style!
Harpoon Impalement▶ show the map ◀
Melee ability. The book is located on top of Sancta Helena's Church tower. To get to this tower you must enter through the door on the ground level of the church. To open this door you will need a key.
You will find the key in another part of the church. To get there you must move the rack and then break the window.
Go inside through the broken window and take the key that lies on the chair.
Note: If you have trouble getting through the window try to crouch down, it helped in my case.
Once you have the key go back to the tower, move another rack to climb up the ladder,...
...shoot the lock to lower the next ladder and climb up.
Impale an enemy with your harpoon and throw them in any direction using [Movement]. Enemies who strike objects or other enemies will suffer massive damage.
Upgrade: Eivor can finish by pulling the enemy close and killing them with style!
Incendiary Powder Trap▶ show the map ◀
Ranged ability. The book is located in the church you will visit during the "Unholy Father" quest.
Attaches a small pouch to your arrow that spreads a volatile powder wherever the arrow strikes. Any nearby movement causes the powder to burst into a poisonous mist. Anyone who walks near is in for an unpleasant surprise!
Upgrade: Your trap can now be triggered twice.
Incendiary Powder Trap▶ show the map ◀
Ranged ability. The book is in the room on top of the keep. The door is barred from inside so to get there you have to move the rack and enter through a hole in the wall.
Attaches a small pouch to your arrow that spreads a volatile powder wherever the arrow strikes. Any nearby movement causes the powder to burst into a poisonous mist. Anyone who walks near is in for an unpleasant surprise!
Upgrade: Your trap can now be triggered twice.
Kick of Tyr▶ show the map ◀
Melee ability. The book is located in the basement of one of the buildings, in a locked room. To get the key you have to slide down the zip line and jump onto the tower at the right moment.
Then enter the building, go down to the basement, use the key to unlock the door and take the book.
A ferocious kick that sends enemies flying backwards. Enemies who strike objects or other enemies will suffer additional damage.
Upgrade: Kicked enemies will remain down and at your mercy.

Ranged ability. This book is in one of the buildings of Crepelgate Fort. The door is barricaded so you have to find another way in.
Go to the back of the building and step under a wooden annex.
You'll see an open window above. Climb up and go through the window.
Move the rack and go down.
Sic your wolf on an enemy.
Upgrade: Your wolf will stay to fight by your side.
Note: Another point of this ability can be gained by doing the quest "A Little Problem".

Ranged ability. Kill the pikeman who has the key and then unlock the door to the tower where the book is located.
Hold [Aim Fire Button] to mark sighted enemies. Release to let fly a deadly volley of arrows.
Upgrade: Increase maximum number of targets.
Piercing Shot▶ show the map ◀
Ranged ability. The book is located in the barracks in the central part of the fortress, you will visit this place while doing "The Walls of Templebrough" quest.
Shoot an arrow with enough force to pierce through nearly any obstacle.
Upgrade: Multiply damage for each enemy the arrow passes through.

Ranged ability. You can get to the building where the book is located through the roof.
You will find the jar of oil needed to blast the stones blocking the passage behind a wooden wall.
Then move the rack to get to the room where the key is.
Use the key to unlock the door to the room where the book is.
Shoot an arrow with enough force to pierce through nearly any obstacle.
Upgrade: Multiply damage for each enemy the arrow passes through.
Poisonous Powder Trap▶ show the map ◀
Ranged ability. The book is inside Odin Mine Hideout. Move the rack blocking the entrance to the side tunnel.
Then take the jar with oil, get to the wall blocking the passage and blow it up.
Climb up and smash the ice wall.
The book is on the other side.

Ranged ability. The book is located in the basement. You visit this place during the quest "Road to Hamartia".
To get to the room where the book is you have to blow up the wall...
...and then move the rack. Beware of the poisonous gas filling the room.

Rage of Helheim▶ show the map ◀
Melee ability. The book is on the upper floor of the archive tower. To get there you must first get rid of the platform with boards blocking the passage. To do this, climb up the scaffolding outside the tower and through the window shoot the pulley on which the platform is hooked.
After getting rid of the boards, you will be able to return to the tower and lower the ladder and climb it up.
Enter a fit of rage and slam your enemy to the ground, leaving them helpless in face of a barrage of hits. Alternate quickly between [Defensive] and [Attack] taps to avoid losing balance.
Upgrade: Land more blows with faster taps.
Raven Distraction▶ show the map ◀
Ranged ability. The book is located in an underground cave (small side cave) with an entrance in the middle of the Tonnastadir camp. To get there you need a key.
You will find the key on a table in the longhouse.
To get rid of the soldiers guarding the entrance, you can shoot the pulley on which a large rock block hangs above them.
Use your raven, Synin, to briefly distract your enemies.
Upgrade: Synin attacks the target to begin the distraction. During combat, Synin stuns the target.

Ranged ability. To get to the room where the book is, you must first destroy the wooden wall on the west side of the church.
You won't be able to get inside this way, but you will be able to shoot at the door lock through the hole created.
Then enter the church and open the door you unlocked.
Use your raven, Synin, to briefly distract your enemies.
Upgrade: Synin attacks the target to begin the distraction. During combat, Synin stuns the target
Rush & Bash▶ show the map ◀
Melee ability. You visit this place during "A Triumphant Return" quest. Use an oil jar to unblock the passage to the lower level.
Before you go down, take the key lying on the table.
Move the rack covering the door to the next room and use the key to open it.
Take the book.
Hold [Ability Melee Trigger] to rush continuously. While rushing, make contact with any enemy to grab and pick them up. Throw enemies you've grabbed off ledges, or throw them off ledges, or slam them into walls for extra damage.
Upgrade: Eivor takes advantage of enemies stunned from a wall slam to finish with an extra punishing attack.
Rush & Bash▶ show the map ◀
Melee ability. The book is located in one of the buildings on top of the stronghold. To open the door you have to pick up the key from the corpse of one of the guards. You will visit this place during the "Storming Ravensburg" quest.
Hold [Ability Melee Trigger] to rush continuously. While rushing, make contact with any enemy to grab and pick them up. Throw enemies you've grabbed off ledges, or throw them off ledges, or slam them into walls for extra damage.
Upgrade: Eivor takes advantage of enemies stunned from a wall slam to finish with an extra punishing attack.
Thorn of Slumber▶ show the map ◀
Ranged ability. The book is located in the chapel in the upper part of the fortress. There are no soldiers nearby. To get inside you must have a key.
You will find the key on the top of a nearby tower.
An arrow marked with the Svefnthorn symbol puts targets to sleep almost instantly.
Upgrade: On impact, arrows expel a cloud of poison, putting anyone nearby to sleep.

Melee ability. This book is best collected during the "King Killer" quest after Ivarr defeats the king. It is in one of the rooms of the castle. You have to blow up a blocked passageway from the adjacent room to get to.
You will find an oil jar in one of the rooms on the other side of the castle.
Hurl throwing axes at all enemies in range.
Upgrade: Any enemy struck will also be staggered.
Vengeance of Thor▶ show the map ◀
Melee ability. You can get into the hut from the canal flowing underneath it, through a hole in the floor.
Use ability button to concentrate all your strength into an unstoppable attack. The longer you keep it prepared, the more powerful the attack will become.
Upgrade: You can charge-up twice for the ultimate attack.

Melee ability. The book is located in a small crypt standing near the church. To get there you need a key that you will find in the church.
To get inside the church you have to break one of the windows on the first floor.
Then move the rack and descend to the lowest level through a hole in the floor.
The key lies on the altar.
Get to the crypt, use the key to open its door and take the book.
Use ability button to concentrate all your strength into an unstoppable attack. The longer you keep it prepared, the more powerful the attack will become.
Upgrade: You can charge-up twice for the ultimate attack.

Melee ability. The book is located in a small niche which can be accessed through a hole hidden under the scaffolding.
In a fit of rage, Eivor lets out a blood curdling scream, gaining strength and causing enemies around to stumble backwards in fear, interrupting their attacks.
Berserker Trap▶ show the map ◀
Ranged ability. The book is in a cave below the church.
Attaches a trap to your arrow that spreads hallucinatory powder. Any nearby movement causes the trap to trigger. Surprise clueless passersby!
Shoulder Bash▶ show the map ◀
Melee ability. The book is in a cave below the church.
Eivor performs a shoulder bash that pushes back enemies and destroy objects.

Ranged ability. The book is found under the floor of a ruined house. To get to it you must destroy the stones blocking access.
If you need an oil jar, you can find some in the village. The closest one stands next to the wall of the house where the entrance is located.
Call an Irish Wolfhound to defend you like a very good dog against all attackers.
Upgrade: Your Wolfhound protects you longer.

Ranged ability. The book is located in an underground cave. The entrance to it is blocked and you must use an explosive arrow or a jar of oil to get inside.
Attaches a small pouch to your arrow that bursts into smoke on impact. Blinded by smoke, enemies are unable to act.
Upgrade: The smoke now bursts into flame on contact with fire, setting alight nearby enemies.

Ranged ability. The book is located in the Champlieu Ruins. To get to the room it is in, you must first move (pull) the rack blocking the passage so that the opening near the floor will be on the other side of the rack.
Once you have done this, enter the room on the right through the first hole by the floor, paying attention to the rats, go further and come out on the other side of the rack through the second hole by the floor.
The book will be a few steps further on.
Lace an arrow with deadly poison that causes those struck to become horrifyingly ill. Witnesses to the sickness back away in terror.
Upgrade: The poison vaporizes into a cloud that engulfs the area.
Plague of Rats▶ show the map ◀
Ranged ability. The book is located further down in the Gisacum Ruins. To get there you must destroy two stone walls.
To destroy the walls you can use the Incendiary Powder Trap ability or the oil jars you can find in the ruins. But keep in mind that contact with rats will cause the jars to be dropped.
Coat an arrow with rat bait that attracts a swarm of vicious rats to the arrow's landing point after a short delay.
Upgrade: More rats are attracted over a wider area.

Ranged ability. You can enter the building through a small window on the side wall.
Inside, you will have to destroy the stone wall blocking the passage.
If you need the jar of oil, destroy the lock on the front door so you can get in through it, climb up the ladder to the top floor and take the jar you find there.
Go out onto the balcony and jump over the beams sticking out of the walls and walk over the roof around the building to the front door.
When you destroy the stone wall and go down, use the bow to destroy the wooden wall and chase away the rats.
You will have a moment to take the book.
Coat an arrow with rat bait that attracts a swarm of vicious rats to the arrow's landing point after a short delay.
Upgrade: More rats are attracted over a wider area.
