Quest stages of King Killer
1. Speak to Ivarr / Follow Ivarr
If you want to attack the fortress, talk to Ivarr, then follow him, get on the horse and ride with him to the place where you will set up the camp. On the way Ivarr will tell you the story how King Rhodri gave him the scar.
King Rhodi resides in Caustow Castle.
2. Speak to Ivarr
To begin the assault, talk to Ivarr, who you will find sitting next to the tent on top of the hill. He tattooed a dragon on his face.
3. Breach the main gate
The attack will start after sunset. Escort the oil cart to the gate. You can focus on the soldiers attacking the cart, you can also help in pushing it. You should avoid large red circles on the ground, because after some time this area will be shelled by enemy archers.
When the cart reaches the gate, ignite it. Remember to step back to a safe distance because after a while a massive explosion will occur.
4. Breach the inner gate
The gate can be blown up with an oil jar. A single jar is enough to do this. The quickest way is to just throw one jar at the gate.
You should not have any problems finding jars nearby.
5. Shoot Links to lower the Drawbridge
Best try to avoid fighting with enemy soldiers and proceed on the right side to a place from where you can shoot at one of the links.
Then get to the other side...
...from where you can shoot out the other link.
6. Enter the castle keep
Defeat the guards protecting the entrance and force open the door.
When you get inside, Ivarr and Rhodri will start fighting with each other. Ivarr will win but leave the king alive.
7. Speak to Ivarr
No matter what you say, Ivarr wants to kill the king in his way, and wants you to help him.
8. Follow Ivarr with Rhodri
Pick up the unconscious king, load him on the horse and ride with Ivarr to the overlook near the Manstone Rock. Then carry the king to a place pointed by Ivarr.
There you will witness Ivarr killing the king in a cruel way, which you will not like.
After killing the king, Ivarr will want to fight a life-and-death duel with you. When you refuse him, he will confess that it was he who killed Ceolbert.
9. Kill Ivarr
Ivarr will fight using two one-handed axes. Ivarr is agile and will perform various types of attacks and stunts such as slides, overturns, jumping attacks, kicks, etc. From time to time he will try to charge in your direction and then knock you to the ground. If you try to keep at a distance, he will throw the axe in your direction. At some point Ivarr will want to talk to you, this is one of his tricks. Wait this out or get ready to do a quick dodge. If you fight too close to the edge of the cliff it may happen that Ivarr will throw you to a lower level.
Once you defeat him, you will be able to decide whether or not to hand him his weapon and allow him to enter Valhalla.
- (Send Ivarr to Valhalla)
- (Deny Ivarr Valhalla)
10. Speak to Deorlaf
Return to Quatford's longhouse. You will meet Bishop Deorlaf and Ubba there. Ubba will ask you how his brother died.
You will have the following options to answer:
- Ivarr died well. - it's a lie.
- Ivarr died badly. - it's the truth.
- He wanted death. - it's considered truth if you send Ivarr to Valhalla.
Note: Lying to Ubba will NEGATIVELY affect your relationship. In that case Ubba will show up in Ravensthorpe during the "Reap What Was Sown" quest and will challenge you to a fistfight.
Bishop Deorlaf will become the new leader of Sciropescire and confirm that you are allies. Then this quest will end with the funeral of Ivarr.
After completing King Killer you will get or will be able to get Reporting on Sciropescire.
