1. Start #1: Know Of Gareth
Talk to Samadel, Kerban, Gratiana or Exter in the Sanctuary of Amadia.

2. Start #2: Found Area
Go to Old Ruins.

3. Convinced To Leave
It's optional. In old ruins you will come across some Magisters (lvl 5). You can kill them or avoid bloodshed by convincing them that they are needed somewhere else.

4. Gareth
You will find Gareth in Old Ruins.
4.1. Freed Cornered Paladin
Kill Magisters (lvl 5) fighting with Gareth.
