The Rot in the Slums Assassin's Creed Valhalla Quest

1. Travel to the slums of Paris

Head to the southern suburbs of Paris. In the place marked on the map below you will find the entrance to the basement of a ruined building.

2. Find and speak to Sigfred / Explore the slums and speak to Sigfred

Go down the ladder to the bottom. You will probably encounter a new type of enemy here for the first time here - a swarm of rats. Rat Swarms cannot be damaged or killed. Repel them by attacking with your weapon. Rats may flee to nearby sewer grates when repelled. Cover grates with pushable objects (when available) to trap them. Odin's Sight will highlight them.

You'll find Sigfred in the next room, just around the corner.

3. Walk with Sigfred

Follow Sigrfred. You will present him with your request along the way and Sigfred will agree to it. When you reach the top of the wall you will see two more people in power in Paris. Odo, Count of Paris, right-hand man to the king, and Gozlin, Bishop of Paris.

Sigfred will tell you where you can begin your search for Engelwin after which you will part ways.

4. Find and Assassinate Engelwin

Note: Infiltration opportunities are marked on your compass.

The bishop is staying in the catacombs below the Sainte-Geneviève Church. However, the church grounds are well fenced and the entrance gate is guarded by strong, well-armed guards so fighting with them is not recommended. It means that you must find some other way to get there.

Take your first steps to the Boatmen Baths Tavern. When you get there you will speak with the tavernkeeper and receive two tips from her. Each of them starts a path which will guarantee you the opportunity to get to the church area.

Method 1: The bishop's scribe

Note: If you use this method, you will not have to fight with anyone.

Read the note lying on the table next to the soldiers - Captain's Orders, and you will find out where you should look for the scribe.

Go to Plague District and talk to the nun you find there and you will receive another clue.

Head to the sewers and make your way to the other end. You will have to swim part of the way through a flooded section.

On the other side you will find the corpse of a scribe. Read the Scribe's Letter lying next to him and you will learn the watchword.

Approach the church gate guarded by soldiers and talk to the priest there. Eivor will tell him the watchword he acquired and will be able to enter the church grounds without being bothered by the guards.

Method 2: The drunk's daughter

Note: This method will require some combat.

Talk to the drunkard in the tavern and he will tell you about his daughter who is being held captive by the bishop's soldiers because she stole something from him.

Head to the Flooded Slums. You will find the girl you are looking for there. Get rid of the soldiers who are guarding her and when you do, approach her and free her.

The girl will run to safety. When she stops, talk to her and you will find out that she stole the key to the side entrance of the church. However, she doesn't have it anymore because she sold it to the bandits in the sewers. If you want that key then you have to go into the sewers. The entrance is located nearby.

Go down to the sewers and, being careful of rats, proceed to the part occupied by bandits. You will come across some smugglers there. Get rid of them and then take the key that lies on the table.

Use the key to open the small gate in the church fence, located on the north side.

You have to be careful not to be seen by the guards so the best way to get inside the church is through the balcony.

Sainte-Geneviève Church

You need to get to the catacombs of the church. From the men in the church you will learn that Engelwin is expecting another guest for "Deliverance" and that to get to him you need a certain cloak. You will find this cloak - Bellatores Robe in a chest on the upper floor of the church.

Wear a cloak and go down to the basement. Talk to the man guarding the door and he will give you the key so that you will be able to go inside.

On the other side of the door a blind woman will be waiting for you who has a simple riddle for you. Draw the torch and light the two braziers and then she will open another door for you.

After a few more steps, you will finally reach the room where Engelwin is located. There are also several of his soldiers in the room.

5. Assassinate Bishop Engelwin

Cleansing yourself in the pool will get you close to the bishop so approach the pond located in the middle of the room and interact with it.

Engelwin will approach you to perform the ritual. At some point he will ask you to take off the cloak. If you want to avoid a fight with him and his soldiers then do it.

When you take off your clothes, Engelwin will order the guards to leave the room and you will stay alone. A time limited option to assassinate with a hidden blade will pop up on the screen. Do it before the time limit runs out or you will die. From the bishop's corpse, Eivor will take the Key to Engelwyn chambers and the Bloodied Crest.

6. Leave Engelwin's sanctum

Head towards the corridor you used to get here and after a while this quest will end and the next one will start.
