Big Ration Chests

The Jomsviking Hall is a new building that can be built and upgraded using Foreign Supplies brought back from river raids.

A higher level Jomsviking Hall will attract higher ranked Jomsvikings who can be recruited into your crew for a fee.

If the Hall is ever empty, or if you don't like the look of the Jomsvikings on offer, ring the bell outside the hall to clear out the Jomsvikings and call in some fresh new faces to recruit.

Build a hall for the Jomsvikings.

11. River Raid Basics.

River Raids send Eivor and a crew of Jomsvikings to distant rivers at the Kingdom's edge and beyond in search of wealth and treasures of myth.

You can launch a river raid by talking to Vagn at the River Raid Dock in the Settlement. Pick a river from Vagn's map, hire a crew of trusty Jomsvikings, then set sail for the riches that await!

During a river raid, you will have to keep an eye on the health of your crew as you choose whether to continue deeper into the river to raid more locations or return to the settlement to bank your loot.

Different locations offer different riches. Civilian locations can replenish your rations. Military locations are rich in foreign supplies, with certain large military locations containing gear. Monasteries can contain foreign supplies, books of knowledge, and even clues to unlock new rivers to raid! You can return to Ravensthorpe from a river raid at any time by entering the command position on your longship, opening the Quick Actions Wheel, and selecting Return to Settlement.

If your longship cargo hold is full, or if you and your crew are low on health and rations, it may be a good idea to return to Ravensthorpe to bank your loot, because if you die in a river raid, you will lose the loot you collected!

Foreign Supplies

Foreign supplies can be traded with Vagn in Ravensthorpe, or used to upgrade the Jomsviking Hall and River Raid Longship.

Jomsviking Hall Levels

Upgrading your Jomsviking Hall Level increases the ranks of Jomsvikings you can recruit into your crew.

Longship Cargo Hold

Upgrade the River Raid Longship's cargo hold to bring more foreign supplies back from each river raid.

Reviving Jomsvikings

In river raids, Jomsvikings who fall in battle can only be revived if you reach them in time and spend one of your rations.

Wounded Jomsvikings

In river raids, if you do not revive a downed Jomsviking in time, they won't be able to raid again until they recover.

Jomsvikings Loyalty

Any Jomsvikings who return successfully from a river raid will gain loyalty, which lowers their hiring cost for future river raids.

Jomsvikings Rank Perks

Higher ranked Jomsvikings can carry more rations and are more effective at fighting.

Jomsviking Lieutenant Ranks

Your Jomsviking lieutenant will gain experience and rank up as you successfully complete more raids.

Dying in a River Raid

If you die in a river raid, you will lose all of the progress and rewards you gained during that river raid.

River Defenses / River Defense Level

If you raid the same river repeatedly, the level of river defenses you encounter there will increase - barricades, ambushes, and river chains.

You can see the current level of river defenses for each river on the river selection map and world map.

A river's defense level will lower again if you raid other rivers, so diversify your river raids to find the path of least resistance!

Vagn's Wares

Vagn has collected a variety of exotic wares, and may be persuaded to part with them in exchange for Foreign Supplies you collect from river raids.

After completing A River to Raid you will get or will be able to get The Legend of Saint George.
