Maps

Maps are typically found hanging on walls, pinned to boards, placed on desks, or stored inside safes. After collecting one, unexplored sections of that specific area become visible on your in-game map, helping you track doors, locked rooms, and areas you may have missed.

Files

Files are collectible documents or logs found throughout the game's environments. In most cases, they are optional pieces of lore and information that you can collect up while exploring.

Wrenwood City GuideWrenwood File 1/6. Right at the beginning of the game, on the right side of the sidewalk, attached to the city map.
Investigation ReportWrenwood File 2/6. Examine the report you have in your inventory from the very beginning of the game. Turn it slightly and open it, then read its contents. The game will suggest that you do this when you reach the Lounge & Bar but you can do it earlier / later.
Hotel PamphletWrenwood File 3/6. It is lying on the floor next to the armchair in the hotel lobby.
Notice of ClosureWrenwood File 4/6. In the drawer of the desk standing in the office.
Alyssa's JournalWrenwood File 5/6. Once you have examined the photos in room 204 and returned to the present, you will be able to move the luggage cart and check what is hidden behind the painting.
Report on Victor GideonWrenwood File 6/6. You receive it automatically during the cutscene in which Leon arrives on the street outside the Wrenwood Hotel.

Locked Passages

Locked Passages are all locked doors, gates, barred areas, and other passages requiring keys, ID wristbands, fuses, tools, puzzles, or special actions (e.g., chainsaw for bolts) to open.

Emergency Exit DoorTo unlock it, you need to use the Emergency Exit Key.
Lounge & Bar DoorUse the Old Key to unlock it.
Rec Room DoorTo unlock them, you need to cut the wire with Wire Cutters.

Keys

Key Items are special objects required to progress through the story. They are used to unlock new areas, solve puzzles, etc. Key Items typically include keys, keycards, mechanical components, puzzle objects, and other unique story-related items.

Emergency Exit KeyYou will find it and pick it up automatically during the struggle with the infected police officer after you find the Alyssa's Journal. Unlocks: Emergency Exit Door.
Old KeyTake the photo of Grace attached to the bar post, turn it around, and you will see a key attached to the back of the photo. Unlocks: Lounge & Bar Door.
Wire CuttersYou'll find them in the case sitting on the snooker table. Unlocks: Rec Room Door.

Story Milestones

These locations represent key plot points within the game. In most cases, reaching these locations triggers a character swap, allowing you to transition between different protagonists.

Wrenwood Starting Point (Grace)You start the entire game playing as Grace, on the street near the Wrenwood Hotel.
PhotosExamine the photos lying on the bed. This will advance the game's plot. For a moment, you will be taken back in time to the day your mother died.
Wrenwood Ending Point (Grace)After passing through the Emergency Exit Door, a cutscene is triggered in which Grace reaches this location and meets Victor Gideon. He captures her, and you take control of Leon ↦ Wrenwood Starting Point (Leon).
Wrenwood Starting Point (Leon)This is where you start when you take control of Leon at a certain point in the game.
Wrenwood Ending Point (Leon)To complete this level, you must reach this location. Along the way, you will have to fight enemies who stand in your way. Once you get here, the action will move to the care center in Rhodes Hill, where you will once again control Grace.

Herbs

Herbs are healing items that restore your character's health when you take damage. They can be combined together to create stronger healing items.

Breakable Containers

Breakable Containers are destructible environmental objects that you can smash to obtain random loot. They typically appear as small fragile objects such as wooden crates, boxes, vases, or other easily breakable items. Once the container is broken, it usually drops a random item that the player can pick up.
