Quest Group: Francia (The Siege of Paris)
Prerequisites: To play this quest, you must first complete the quest The Siege of Paris.
After defeating Gozlin, which takes place at the end of the quest "The Siege of Paris", Sigfred is filled with a desire for revenge. To prevent a massacre, Eivor decides to contact Count Odo and convince him to surrender the city.
Eivor races against time to speak to Count Odo before the palace walls fall and the people within are slaughtered.
Toka told you that Nolwenn the smuggler knows a secret way in the south of the Île de la Cité. You can also find another way past the walls on your own.
Find Nolwenn who is waiting for you on the roof of one of the houses in the place marked on the picture below.
She will take you to a house located in the southeastern part of the island, where the entrance to the tunnel is located. The door of the house is guarded by soldiers, so you will have to get rid of them first.
Go down into the tunnel and follow its corridors until you emerge on the palace grounds. On the way you will have to get rid of a couple of soldiers.
Head to the northeastern part of the island and you will find a tower with a zipline ending in the palace grounds there.
In order to enter the tower, you must first kill an enemy who is nearby, take his key and use it to open the gate of the tower's fence.
Then climb to the top of the tower and ride down the zip line.
You must now make your way inside the palace. Depending on how you got into the palace grounds you can use different ways to do this.
If you entered the palace grounds through the tunnel, then the easiest way to get into the palace is through one of its windows on the south side. The easiest way to get there is by climbing the walls and walking across the ropes.
If you got to the palace grounds using the zip line then the easiest way to get inside the palace will be through its basement.
Once you are in the palace you will generally need to get to the bedroom where Odo's dying wife is located. You will get to the bedroom through the kitchen then thorough its balcony or through its main door. You can get to the kitchen in two ways, through the main hall or from the basement through the prison.
If you want to go through the prison then you need a key which the jailor has. You will find him on the first floor. Sit on the bench and he and a nearby soldier will start moving and then you will be able to kill them easily and get the key.
If you want to go through the main hall then you need to get past the two elite guards. To make this possible create a distruction using the drunken man. The guards will move towards him between the shelves with the scrolls and you should pass on the right side, hiding behind a shelf.
The door leading to the bedroom where Odo's wife is located is locked, opposite is the door to the room where Odo is located (you will learn about this from his wife). The door to the servants wing is blocked from the other side.
If you climb to the wooden beams under the ceiling, you will find a key in the bird's nest there that you can use to open the balcony door of Odo's wife's bedroom.
To get into the kitchen undetected, you must wait for the right moment until the guards patrolling the lower floor are properly positioned (two of them patrol the lower level walking around counterclockwise) and quickly go downstairs and enter the kitchen.
You can talk to the cook and get further clues this way. Then go up the staircase adjacent to the kitchen to the top floor. There you will find a drunken priest - Walter.
You'll also find a door there, after unblocking it, you can go to the balcony from which you will see Odo's wife's bedroom balcony. If you have the key to the balcony bedroom door, you can go this way.
If you don't have the key, you must talk to the priest and then bring him the bottle of wine that you will find on the table in the room below. You will then receive from him the key to the main bedroom door.
When you enter the bedroom then you will speak with Odo's dying wife. She will think you are a priest and you will be given a choice on how to answer her:
What you choose doesn't really matter. Either way, at the end she will tell you where you can find her husband and give you the key to the room where he is located - War Room Key.
Return to the main hall and go to the room opposite. You can simply walk past the watchman guarding the door as he walks away to the other side.
You will meet Odo there and you both will start talking. Unfortunately, you won't be able to convince him and after a while the two of you will start fighting with each other.
Odo will fight using a sword and shield. When you defeat him, you won't kill him.
In the meantime, Charles will arrive in Paris with his troops, but he won't fight, he'll start negotiating a truce with Siegfried. You and Odo will join them for the negotiations.
No matter what you answer Sigfred will agree to accept Charles' offer.
At the end you will have one more decision to make, whether or not to hand Charles his son. If you give him his son, he will be happy and Bernard will also be content. If you refuse, Charles will be angry with you. Either way this quest will end and you and your friends will return to Melun to celebrate the victory.
Note: Whether or not you hand Bernard over doesn't really affect the next quests. Only a few dialogues will change and the quest objectives will remain the same.
After completing this quest, you will be able to play the quest Skal!.
