Quest Group: Main Quests
Suggested level: 14
Location: Skellige
Prerequisites: To play this quest, you must first complete the quest Missing Persons.
You will receive this quest automatically when you complete the "Missing Persons" quest, when you reach the Freya's Garden gate.
While talking to the inhabitants of Lofoten, Geralt and Yennefer found out Ciri had been in the village right before the Wild Hunt had descended upon it. She had ridden off with a man called Craven, heading towards Drowned Dead Rock. Geralt and Yennefer decided they had to find this Craven - though both knew there was little chance he would still be alive when they did. The monster dwelling in Freya's garden did not take kindly to visitors.
Get on the walls and approach the tree growing in the middle. You'll find traces of Craven's blood there.
You'll have to kill a few wolves (14) on the way. Following tracks of his blood, you will reach a locked door so you'll have to find another way in.
Go to the other side of the garden. There you will find three sluices and a mechanism with which you can operate them.
You need to open the middle sluice. Use the right lever to centre the peg in the middle position and then use the left lever to open the sluice.
When you open this sluice, you will be able to enter previously inaccessible part of the garden.
You can also open the right sluice and swim to the end of the flooded tunnel. There you will find a skeleton and in it the Padlock key you can use to open the closed door you came across earlier.
When you examine the tracks on the other side of the door near the well, you'll find out that Craven jumped into it.
Jump in and find Craven's body.
Yennefer will tell Geralt to bring the body to her. When Geralt does that, she will use necromancy to reanimate the corpse and get information about Ciri from him.
Geralt, an expert tracker if there ever was one, had little trouble retracing Craven's footsteps. Putting the lie to his insulting nickname, Craven had bravely faced the monster in the garden… and, sad to say, was mortally wounded as a result. Feeling the life seep out of him, Craven found shelter in an underground chamber. That is where he died, and that is where Geralt found his body. This could have marked the end of the trail, and most certainly would have, dear reader, if not for Yennefer's determination...
After completing this quest, you will be able to play the quest The Calm Before the Storm.
