Prerequisites: To play this mission, you must first complete the missions Jim Milton Rides, Again?, Fatherhood, For Idiots.
This mission will start automatically after completing the Fatherhood, For Idiots and Jim Milton Rides, Again? missions. Abe will inform you that a postman has arrived at the ranch with a telegram for you.
John receives a telegram from Sadie Adler.

Run to the postman and take the telegram from him.
The telegram is sent by your old friend Sadie Adler who wants to meet you in Valentine.
Go back to your house to have a talk with your wife. The house will turn out to be empty. Abigail left you and took Jack with her. On the table, John will find a letter in which Abigail explains the reasons for her decision.
John decides to go back to work on the ranch to raise the funds needed to buy the ranch, which Abigail mentioned to him a little earlier, and thus prove to her that he can change for the better.
There will be three places on the map where there is something to do. All you have to do is do one of those jobs. If you want to stay within the time limit to get the gold medal, then run to milk the cow.
Over the next few months John will work hard on Pronghorn Ranch to raise the funds needed to buy his own ranch.
When you regain control over John, run toward Geddes' house to talk to him. John will ask Geddes to help arrange a bank loan. Geddes will agree and tell you who you should talk to.
John will return to his house, take the equipment he received from Arthur and leave the ranch.
After completing this mission, you will be able to play the missions Gainful Employment, The Landowning Classes.
