Prerequisites: To play this mission, you must first complete the mission Old Habits.
To begin this mission, talk to Mr. Geddes, whom you will find standing with Mrs. Geddes near the barn, about the incident with the Leramie boys.
Arthur will assure Mr Geddes that he will take care of his safety, and then he will come home, have dinner with his family and go to bed.
In the middle of the night, he will be awakened by gunshots. John will run outside. The Laramie Gang conducts a raid on the ranch.
John is thanked by Mr. Geddes for his help with the Laramie Gang, and he turns in for the night, only to be woken by a raid on the ranch.

The ranch is raided by the Laramie boys. Abe will inform you that two of them have captured Tom Dickens. Go to the waypoint to find Tom Dickens by the stables.
Deal with both bandits in hand-to-hand combat.
When you have dealt with both, Mr. Geddes will come and ask Abe, Tom and you to take your weapons and recover the stolen cattle. John will pretend to be surprised when he hears about the guns, but Mr. Geddes will make it clear to him that he knows that John is not who he claims to be, and that he doesn't care what you used to do.
John will return to the house to take his weapons. Of course Abigail won't be happy about it.
Abe, Tom and your horse will be waiting for you outside the house. Together you will ride to Hanging Dog Ranch.
When you get close to the ranch, John will do a little reconnaissance through binoculars, and assign tasks. John will approach the camp from the front.
John will approach the guards and start talking to them. After a while, the shooting will begin.
If you are going to earn a gold medal in this mission, then before the shooting starts, make sure you use two side arms because you have to kill ten enemies with them. When you kill enough enemies using side arms, then you can switch to another type of weapon. Eliminate enemies on the ranch, keeping in mind that the next requirement to earn the gold medal is to get 15 headshots.
When all the enemies outside are dead, enter the barn to find their leader.
When you enter the barn, he will ambush you and knock you to the ground. First free yourself from the grip and then defeat the gang leader in a fistfight.
When you knock him down, he will try to reach for his weapon, but John will kick it out of his hand and pick it up himself. The gang leader will continue to insult you and your wife, so he will end up with a bullet in his head.
Go back to the ranch. Everyone will compliment you on what you have done.
