In order to start this mission, after completing The Landowning Classes mission go to the ranch you are going to buy. The mission will start when you talk to one of the sqatters.
Before he can purchase Beecher's Hope, John must inspect the land and move on any illegal tenants. Back in Blackwater he runs into an old friend.
You can kill them but you can also give them $10 then they will be very grateful to you and your honor will rise.
When you get rid of the wild tenants, John will automatically return to the bank and sign the loan documents.
