To start this quest you should find and approach to Magisters (lvl 13) or Hannag. You must decide who you want to help.
We have come across a powerful Sourcerer called Hannag who is surrounded by attacking Magisters. We ought to consider helping either Hannag or the Magisters.

Quest stages of Window of Opportunity
1. Helping Sourcerer (Hannag)
We have agreed to assist Hannag in fighting off the Magisters.
1.1. Killed Magister
We turned against the Magisters.
1.2. Rewarded Sourcerer
Hannag has rewarded us for helping her.

Hannag told us how she and Gwydian were forced to use Source in order to fight off the Magisters that were chasing her - this attracted Voidwoken, and ultimately led to the destruction of the Paradise Downs region.
1.4. Learn Apprentice
We learned that Hannag had an apprentice, Gwydian. She lost contact with him while escaping from pursuing Magisters.
1.5. Told Apprentice Alive
You need to complete On the Ropes quest and save Gwydian Rince.
We told Hannag that her apprentice Gwydian was alive and well; she was pleased to hear it.

Hannag told us that she was the one who created the Deathfog bomb that ended the Great War. She was ordered to do so by Lucian the Divine.

As Gwydian died while we tried to rescue him, we should be cautious when mentioning his fate to Hannag.

Hannag offered to deepen our mastery of our Source powers, by drawing Source from animals. This process would kill the animals, but we accepted nonetheless.

Hannag offered to deepen our mastery of our Source powers, by drawing Source from animals. This process would kill the animals, and so we refused her help.
2. Helping Magisters
We agreed to help the Magisters put a stop to the Sourcerer.
2.1. Hannag Died
Hannag died, opening up a rift what appeared to be a rift to another plane of existence in the process.

We killed Hannag.

The Magisters have rewarded us for assisting them.

Both Hannag and the leader of the Magisters that pursued her are dead. The matter is at an unhappy close.

Gareth's parents told us of a Sourcerer named Hannag. Last they heard, she was heading towards the Cloisterwood, fleeing from Magisters.
