Quest Group: Eurvicscire / The Sayings of Halfdan
Prerequisites: To play this quest, you must first complete the quest Honor Has Two Edges.
This quest starts after completing the "War in the North" quest. Eivor makes his way back to Donecaestre to report to Halfdan.
Halfdan's paranoia grows as he starts to doubt the people close to him.
Return to Donecaestre and speak to Halfdan. When you reach Halfdan's chamber you will witness Moira, whom Faravid mentioned to you a bit earlier, giving the Jarl some potion to drink.
Moira will leave and you will start talking about what you have managed to figure out about Faravid. You'll have to make a choice (This choice will not affect the future events):
You then ask him about Moira, who you think is also one of the suspects. Halfdan will be confident that she has nothing to do with the attempts to poison him and will tell you to talk to her to find that out for yourself.
Go to the village at the foot of the castle and find Moira's house. She lives in the southern area of Donecaestre.
When you enter the house you will not meet her there, but you will find a letter which will tell you where she could have gone. She might be in Wyke, southeast of Eurvicscire.
Travel to Wyke. When you arrive, head to the western end of the town and you'll find the house swarmed with angry folks. You can talk to them and find out what's going on - they believe that Moira is a witch.
The doors to the house are barred from the inside. Climb to the roof of the building, destroy the wicker wall and get inside the building through the created opening.
Talk to Moira and then choose how you will get her out of the house and protect her from the angry mob:
If you have decided to talk, then you need to go outside and speak with the mob leader. You will be given the following options:
Once it is safe, talk to Moira. She will tell you that Halfdan is seriously ill and her potions are only to ease his pain.
He is investigating leads at Temple of Brigantia north of Donecaestre. Head there, find Halfdan a speak to him. He will inform you that he cannot find the scout and will ask for your help to find him.
The scout is located on top of the pillars by the river.
Grab Olav and by walking along the ropes and jumping over the columns bring him down and carry him to Halfdan.
Unfortunately, Olav's wounds will be fatal and he will die. Halfdan then will order his dog to follow the tracks of the attackers.
Beonton will lead you to Petuaria Ruins.
Enter the ruins and find the entrance to the basement. Destroy the boards blocking the passage and go down.
You need to help Halfdan find a way to the room in the further part of the basement. The breakable walls can be destroyed the Incendiary Powder Trap ability but if you don't have this ability yet then you must use oil jars.
To find the jars you must swim through the flooded tunnel.
When you destroy the wall and Halfdan can move forward, you will together with him open the door to the room where the stolen goods are.
As you chat you will hear noises coming from outside.
Take the key from the table inside the hideout and exit via the locked door on the other side.
Outside you will meet Ulf and his men. Ulf will claim that the part of the treasure they took is rightfully theirs, and they killed Olav because they thought he was a thief. You will have to decide how to deal with them:
Halfdan, who still can't accept the thought that he might be sick, will want you to find proof of Farvid's treachery. This quest will end and you will receive a new one - "This Son of Jorvik".
After completing this quest, you will be able to play the quest This Son of Jorvik.
