Quest Group: East Anglia / The Tale of Thegn Oswald
Prerequisites: To play this quest, you must first complete the quest The Measure of a Norseman.
This quest starts automatically after completing "The Measure of a Norseman" quest.
Oswald returns to Northwic with treasure and a tale of victory over Rued's clan. But will it be enough to win over the brothers?
Go back to Northwic and approach Oswald talking to one of the brothers at the harbor.
After a while, the other brother will join you with the information that there are Rued's spies in the village. You decide to catch one of them to question him.
They were seen near small boats, around the walls of Northwic. Go outside the western walls of the settlement and you will find a spy there.
When you beat him, you will be able to tie him up.
Transport the spy back to the harbor.
A spy, initially reluctant to give any information, will eventually give you the information you need. During the conversation you will also learn a little about Oswald's future wife's past. If you do not kill a spy, someone else will.
Although everyone will advise him not to do so, Oswald will decide to go to meet Rued.
Meet the others near Dunwic fortress.
You must eliminate about fifteen or so opponents that are in the fortress. If you want to get to the fortress in a more discreet way, you can use a secret entrance.
Eliminate all opponents in the fortress in any way you can.
One of the opponents, the one with the ingot, will be a bit more difficult to defeat than the others.
When you get rid of all the opponents, use your torch and light the brazier.
Twilight will come and Rued and his men will arrive to the fortress.
Rued will challenge Oswald to a duel and he will accept his challenge. The duel will end in a rather unexpected way.
When you regain control of the character, simply head towards the main gate of the fortress as soon as possible and run to the place where you previously met your allies. Wait for your allies to join you and after a short conversation the quest will end.
After completing this quest, you will be able to play the quest Raising Iron.
