This quest starts automatically once you complete "I Just Want to Talk" and "Not Our Natural Alies". The clues you've gathered point you toward an estate located on Tortuga island.
The lure of gold leads Edward to Maynard's villa at Tortuga.
Fast travel to the island is unavailable. Approach the island from the south side and dock at the marked location.
Jump off the deck into the water and swim after Lucy to the shore.
Continue following Lucy and parkour. Soon, you'll reach a hill overlooking the plantation.
Ahead of you is a warehouse, with the surrounding area guarded by soldiers. To reach the villa located at the northern end of the island, you can fight them, but it will be easier to sneak past using the high grass.
Go around the warehouse area on the left side. Just be careful not to be spotted by the soldier standing on the watchtower.
As you get closer to the villa, take the path up the hill it stands on, move through the tall grass growing in front of it, and enter the building through the main entrance.
You now need to find three clues. The first is the jaguar in the room you entered so examine the stuffed beast.
Next, head outside and reach the upper floor of the estate - using a ladder, for example. The two soldiers guarding the back of the estate shouldn't spot you.
Examine the painting hanging on the wall - this is the second clue.
The last clue you need to examine is a letter lying on a barrel. Once you do this, a cutscene will trigger. It's a trap! There is no gold here, and you must escape the estate - and the island.
Get outside through the window you are standing by. You should see the Jackdaw approaching the island from the north and stopping at the docks. Leap off the roof, get onto Jackdaw's deck as quickly as possible, and take the wheel. It's best to ignore the soldiers and either run back using the same path as Lucy or reach the ship any other way - swimming across, for example.
Try to sail out into the open sea. Shortly after, you will be attacked by three enemy frigates.
Start eliminating the frigates. It's best to use them for healing the Jackdaw whenever possible, as these aren't the only ships you'll have to deal with.
Roughly when you disable two enemy frigates, three more will show up so in total, you'll need to sink six frigates. If a pirate hunter ship appears, you can ignore it - as soon as you destroy the frigates, this quest will end.
The next quest in the series - and the final one - "A World Without Gold", will start automatically.
