Quest Group: Secondary Quests
Location: Novigrad
To start this quest, talk to a woman named Yanina who you will find next to her hut east of Novigrad.
An old woman in Velen asked Geralt for an unusual favor. Some time ago her hens had gone missing from her hen house. Based on the tracks she had found, the woman suspected some two-legged creature with wolf-like paws was responsible. Geralt decided to investigate this mysterious being.
A woman will tell you that something is stealing her hens. The traces she's been able to find indicate it could be wolves.
Follow the wolf's footsteps. After a while, they will change into the footsteps of little human beings.
On the other side of the pond you'll come across a small camp with three orphaned children. They're the ones stealing the hens. To deceive the trail, they attach to their shoes the paws of wolves that their father once gave them. You can suggest that they should not steal and that they should seek help or go back to the woman right away.
Geralt discovered the chicken thief was not a monster but a group of war orphans. Their parents caught and killed by passing soldiers, the children had been forced to fend for themselves - and Geralt was forced to choose what to do with them.
Go back to Yanina. Geralt will tell her about the children and you can choose whether or not you want to convince her to take care of those children. In both cases you will get 25 XP and if you don't convince her to take care of the children, you will get an extra 20 crowns.
