In Hollow Knight: Silksong, Maps are region-specific items that reveal the layout of individual areas in Pharloom. Most maps are sold by Shakra, the traveling cartographer, who appears in each new region and offers the local map in exchange for rosaries. Additionally, some maps can be found in machines displaying a model of the Citadel, where they can also be purchased for the required amount of rosaries. A few maps, however, can be discovered and collected freely without any cost.
Once acquired, a map shows terrain, benches, and major landmarks. Its usefulness increases when combined with tools like the Compass, which displays Hornet's real-time position, and the Quill, which allows players to fill in missing portions of the map.
Once you collect all the maps of the regions, you will thus unlock the "Cartographer" achievement / trophy.
