The easiest way to start this tale is to find a musician who will tell you a story about the spirit. You will find it in Toyotama near the ruins of Old Yarikawa.
An upset crowd. I think the musician is trying to calm them. I'll make sure he's all right.
You can find out where the musician is exactly by talking to the people you meet while exploring.
What is this rumor about Lord Yarikawa's final curse? If the musician is telling the tale, there may be something to it. I'll talk to him.

Talk to the musician and you'll hear a story from him about the Yarikawa spirit that meets the revenge requests of the local people. He will also tell you how people communicate their wishes to the spirit. To find their prayers you have to look for white smoke.
The musician told me a tale about a spirit known as "Yarikawa's Vengeance." The people of Yarikawa leave offerings to this spirit, hoping it will carry out their prayers for revenge.
l should find this spirit and learn the truth.
The first shrine you should find is located in the southwestern part of the search area - First White Smoke. Going along the road to the left of the musician, you should get there quite fast. White smoke will be visible from quite a distance.
Approach the shrine and read the request lying on it.
Heitaro is a traitor to our people. He's at the camp nearby. End his worthless life.
Go to a nearby refugee camp and talk to the people standing by the campfire. The man is Heitaro, who was mentioned in the scroll. The woman standing next to him will accuse him of helping the Mongols as he sneaks off every night. Heitaro will ask you to go with him, he will show you something and prove to you that he is not a traitor.
He will take you to a nearby hill and show you a grave. This is the grave of his lover and that' s where he comes every night. He didn't want to tell you the truth in front of the people from the camp, because there is a wife and children of the dead man in the camp and he didn't want to hurt them.
You will find another shrine near the bridge in the north-western part of the search area - Second White Smoke. This time the request is to get rid of the Mongols.
The Mongols enslave our people. They camp along the Kushi River, not far from this shrine. Destroy them.
The camp is located near the river a little to the south. When you look in that direction, you should notice a fiery glow.
When you get there, you'll only find the corpses of the Mongols and one man in a cage. Free him and he'll tell you what happened there.
You will find another shrine in a village on a hill, in the centre of the search area - Third White Smoke. When you get there, you will find that the spirit has already taken the request placed here. After a while you will hear the sounds of combat.
Head west until you get to the house there. When you get closer, you should notice a character who ran to the back of the house. Do the same.
The mysterious figure has disappeared somewhere, but you will find a hole through which you can enter the building.
Examine the offerings taken from the shrines, the Yarikawa banner, a samurai helmet and two scrolls and you will come to the conclusion that maybe a samurai from the Yarikawa clan managed to survive.
You'll find the next shrine a little to the north - Fourth White Smoke. The scroll you find there will be about you.
Lord Sakai is the last of his clan...And a servant of the dog Shimura. Lead him to the Garden of the Gods so they may witness his death.
The Garden of the Gods is located next to the village on the hill. When you travel there, you can meet some villagers. When you talk to them they will give you some tips on how to find the garden.
You shouldn't have any major problems locating the garden. Just head towards the thousands of skylights flying around. You'll see them from afar.
In the garden, find and read the last scroll. When you do that, the Spirit of Yarikawa will arrive.
Yarikawa's Vengeance has come for you...
The spirit will turn out to be a woman and she wants to kill you at the request of all those Yarikawa people who could not forgive your clan for what your uncle did to them. After a while, the duel will begin.
When your opponent is close to death, the game will prompt you to use a new ability - Dance of Wrath. Use it to finish the fight.
One of the rewards you will receive will be a new look for your sword - Omukade's Revenge.
