The Dark Place, Alan Wake 2 Map

An interactive map of the areas of the world that we explore in Alan Wake 2 while playing as Alan. These include Talk Show Studio, The Dark Place, Subway, Oceanview Hotel and the Poet's Cinema.

This map features such locations as Weapons, Words of Power, Location Maps, Echoes, Writer's Journey Videos, Break Rooms, Key Items, Sheriff's Caches, etc.

Night Springs - Commercial

Maps

Maps are usually posted on boards which you can find shortly after entering a new area. Maps of some locations can be found in a couple of places, you just need to find any one of them. There are also "supplementary" maps that cause additional interesting points, etc. to be added to the maps you already have.

Oceanview Hotel MapChapter: Initiation 5: Room 665. This map hangs on the wall in the reception room located on the first floor.
Oceanview Hotel Map UpgradeChapter: Initiation 5: Room 665. The map will indicate where to find Words of Power and Sheriff's Supplies located on the hotel premises.
Poet's Cinema MapChapter: Initiation 8: Zane's Film.

Subway MapChapter: Initiation 2: Casey. You can find this map in the subway tunnel, right next to the entrance to the Subway A break room.

Writer's Journey Videos

Writer's Journey Videos are collectibles available in Alan Wake 2 when you play as Alan. In order to collect them, you must find the TV sets placed somewhere in the Dark Place on which one of the videos will be played.

Sheriff's Caches

These are vintage suitcases that hold more supplies than regular containers. The places where you can find them will be marked on your maps when you interact with the map upgrades you find in Sheriff Tim Breaker's hideouts.

Echoes

Echoes consist of two spheres - light and dark. To activate a certain echo you have to stand in such a place that both spheres line up and the dark sphere obscures the light one.

Janitor's Buckets

The Janitor's Buckets are used to switch between Saga and Alan. This will become possible after completing chapter "Initiation 2: Casey" and returning to the Elderwood Palace Lodge in Bright Falls.

Locked Passages

Closed passages such as doors, gates, etc., to open which you generally need to find some key, code or use a tool. Sometimes it is enough to approach them from the right side and sometimes you need to make the necessary progress in the game's storyline.

Containers

Various types of containers, for example, cabinets, drawers, tool boxes, crates, and the like in which you can find supplies. What you find inside is largely random or depends on what weapons you have, what you are missing, etc. Sometimes they can be empty.

Keys

Various Keys, codes, tools or other items that can be used to open a door or container, activate a device, restore power, etc.

Angel LampChapter: Initiation 1: Late Night. You can use it to move light between Light Shift Locations and thus create new opportunities, such as opening a path forward, etc.
Janitor's KeyChapter: Initiation 1: Late Night. You will receive it from the janitor who is here. It opens the Talk Show Studio Basement Door.
Neon SignChapter: Initiation 1: Late Night. It's not a key but it provides the codes for the Keypad Door: 1st. This is simply the number displayed: 665 2nd. It's a sequence of blinking digits: 565.
Room 101 KeyChapter: Initiation 5: Room 665. It unlocks Room 101 Door.
Room 104 KeyChapter: Initiation 5: Room 665. This key lies on the box. You have to be in the right scene to be able to take it. It unlocks Room 104 Door.
Room 209 KeyChapter: Initiation 5: Room 665. This key unlocks Room 209 Door.
