Quest Group: Wincestre / The City of Faith
Prerequisites: To play this quest, you must first complete the quest Plucking the Quill.
Make sure the Seax is really dead.
Head to the inn and talk to Goodwin. Eivor will have doubts that The Seax is really dead. In order to clear up his doubts he will have to attend the bishop's funeral.
If your charisma is at least level 4, you can talk to the sister of the bishop and tell her that you think her brother is alive - "I believe your brother still lives." Then she will unintentionally reveal that she knows her brother is alive, escape to the nearby chapel and call three guards to protect her.
Another way to confirm that the bishop is alive is to examine three clues. It is best to start by talking to one of the people in the cemetery. This is the gravedigger who will tell you about his friend who went missing.
Then examine the clothes lying nearby.
Also examine the bishop's corpse. This will be the corpse of someone short and not a tall man like the bishop was.
After examining all the tracks, talk to the bishop's sister. She will escape to the nearby chapel and call three guards to protect her.
Defeat the three guards who will come and attack you.
Again, talk to the Bishop's sister and then she will reveal to you what her brother is planning to do.
Go to the town hall. Climb the scaffolding and go inside through the window.
When you go inside, the King's speech will be just in progress. There will be several elite guards in the room, one of them is Ealhferth.
You won't know which one he is until, near the end of the speech, he comes near the king and reveals himself. It is best to be prepared for this moment and as soon as he approaches the king and shouts "The king is mine!", air assassinate him. Otherwise you will have to go down and fight him and other guards. In this case, focus on killing the bishop.
Once the Ealhferth is dead, the king will thank you for saving his life and then you will talk to the bishop's sister. She will be angry with you for killing her brother, but she will also be angry with the Order, so she will tell you what to do with the key you found in her brother's corpse.
Head to the bishop's residence and find the entrance to the undergrounds.
Use the key you found to open the locked door.
You need to find two clues. The first one, a letter, lies on a crate in the hallway.
To get to the second clue, you must first move the rack blocking the passage, then go through the gap near the floor, take the oil jar and use it to destroy the rocks blocking the passage.
In the small room on the other side you will find another document - Faded Decree.
Go to The Old Minster and go inside. The king will give you an ultimatum. Accept the Christian faith and live among them or die as a pagan.
When Eivor refuses, the king and his soldiers will leave the temple and an alarm will sound in the city - the soldiers have received orders to attack you on sight.
Both entrances to the church are guarded by soldiers. You can simply run outside and escape them, but a simpler solution is to break one of the windows and get out this way without being seen by anyone.
After completing this quest, you will be able to play the quest Reporting on Wincestre.
