Quest Group: Main Quests
Suggested level: 16
Location: Novigrad
This quest will appear in your journal when after an audience with the Emperor you leave Vizima Castle and reach Velen - No Man's Land for the first time.
The search for Ciri had taken Yennefer to the wind-swept Skellige Isles - that is to say, lest your mind fill with visions of our elegant sorceress shivering on some barren rock - it had taken her to a suite of comfortable rooms near Kaer Trolde Castle on the isle of Ard Skellig. Geralt was to join her there and thus set off to the port in Novigrad, where he hoped to find a captain bold enough to brave the pirate-infested waters en route.
The map will mark three ships moored in Novigrad. If you talk to Captain Liglad, he'll tell you that only Wolverstone is crazy enough to sail to the Skelige. He'll also tell you where you can find him.
You'll find Captain Wolverstone at the bar in the Golden Sturgeon inn. He'll take you to Skellige if you pay him 1000 crowns. Once you pay him and tell him you're ready, you'll set sail.
Your journey to the islands will be interrupted by a pirate attack. Help the crew kill the pirates (15,16).
When you get rid of the pirates, your ship will hit the rocks and crash, and you will lose consciousness. A few hours later you will wake up on the beach when one of the islanders - Steingrim, thinking that you are dead, tries to rob you.
When asked about Yennefer, Steingrim will tell you that there's a sorceress like her on the island. He will express his dislike towards the sorceress, so you can beat him up in a fistfight for it. Anyway, he'll tell you where you should go.
After much searching, Geralt found just such a man. A certain Captain Wolverstone had agreed to sail to Skellige. Whether he was abnormally brave or abnormally stupid is unknown - the vodka he gulped in buckets could have enhanced either quality. We can also hope it helped sooth his nerves when, to no one's surprise, pirates attacked the ship off the archipelago's shores. Geralt was thrown overboard during the tussle, and awoke face-down in the Skellige sand.
Before you go to Kaer Trolde, head south. There is the wreck of the ship you came here on, near which you will find several treasure chests and the corpse of Wolverstone in which you will find 1000 crowns that you paid him.
Head to the Kaer Trolde Harbor. When you get there, you'll attend King Bran's funeral, and Yennefer will also be there.
After the ceremony you will exchange information about what you managed to find out about Ciri. Yenn will tell you about the magical explosion that took place on the island, which she cannot investigate as the local druid Ermion forbids her. At the end Crach an Craite will approach you and invite you to a wake.
Geralt recovered from his tumultuous landing and eventually reached Kaer Trolde castle - home to Crach, jarl of Clan an Craite. There he discovered all the notables of Skellige had gathered to bury King Bran, who had breathed his last a few days prior. In attendance as well: Yennefer.
After completing this quest, you will be able to play the quest The King is Dead - Long Live the King.
