Of Swords and Dumplings Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Quest
Suggested level: 24
Group: Secondary Quests
Location: Novigrad
You can start this quest by asking the blacksmiths if they know any master weaponsmith or by talking directly to Hattori, whom you will find in his shop in Novigrad.
To a witcher, a sword is like a lover. He must carress it, care for it, devote some time to it each night. But as with lovers, there are times one comes across a specimen so superior and not one's own that one cannot help but consider replacing the old with the new. Geralt was fully aware of these principles, so when he heard about the legendary swordsmith named Hattori, a tingle ran down his spine, butterflies took flight in his stomach, and he resolved to find the craftsman.

Quest stages of Of Swords and Dumplings
1. Talk to Hattori in his dumpling shop.
A witcher without a blade is like a potter without hands, and thus they are always on the lookout for skilled smiths to reforge or repair their deadly limbs. One day Geralt encountered a certain Hattori, a former master swordsmith who had transitioned into the premade edibles trade. He decided to convince the man to give up this dough business and return to his former practice. Little did he know this would be the start of a strange and toilsome adventure involving Skelligers, dumplings, shady ore dealers and, I kid you not, crafting supplies.
2. Go to the docks after dusk to meet Hattori's supplier. / Help Hattori to make a deal with his supplier.
Go to port and wait until 8pm, then Hattori should appear. Together you will go to the meeting place where the offer will be presented - they want half of the profits. You can accept the offer ("Fine. Let's get this over with.") or bargain ("Let's negotiate." or "Are you crazy?"), if you bargain well you can go down to 25%. To achieve this, when you reach the time limited choice you should choose "Fine, no deal.", then Tinboy will come back, agreeing to 25% and a discount at the store.
3. Escape the ambush. / Talk to Hattori in his dumpling shop.
Your conversation will be interrupted by the arrival of Cleaver's men. Kill them all and then run out with Hatori and Tinboy through the gate leading east. When you reach the port, Tinboy will confirm that you agreement is still valid and suggest that you should seek some protection. In the meantime, Hattori will flee and run to his house. Go over there and knock on the door. Hattori locked himself in his house. He'll ask you to find him a bodyguard and even suggest who you should talk to.
4. Enlist Sukrus from Skellige as Hattori's bodyguard. / Break up the fight outside the inn.
Go to the Golden Sturgeon inn. On the street east of the tavern you will find two men fighting with each other, one of whom is Sukrus. When you approach him, you'll have to fistfight him.
Whether you beat him or lose, you'll both enter the tavern for a drink. Geralt will offer Sukrus a job. He'll agree, but first you have to help him get his money back from his brother-in-law, or you can bring justice in another way and destroy his brother-in-law's stock of mead.
5. Convince the Skellige merchant to pay his debts to Sukrus or destroy his goods.
Go to port and board the ship of Sukrus' brother-in-law. You must use Delusion (2) to convince the trader. Otherwise, you will have to use your weapon or Aard sign to destroy the barrels standing on-board. When you do that, the merchants will attack you, but if you defeat one of them, the rest will escape.
6. Tell Sukrus you solved his problem. / Return to Hattori.
Go back to Sukrus and inform him that you have solved his problem. When you do that, he'll gather his boys and head to Hattori. You go to Hattori too. Unfortunately, this isn't the end of the problem. Hattori needs the right ingredients to make a sword for you. He will suggest that you steal those ingredients for him.
7. Gather Sukrus and his boys.
Sukur is sitting on a bench in front of Hattori's house. Tell him Hattori's plan. He and his men will go to the place to do the recon.
8. Meet Sukrus by van Hoorn's warehouse after dark.
Go to the location after 6PM. Sukrus will be waiting for you there. You'll set up a plan of action. Your task will be to get to the warehouse and mark the crates.
9. Get into Ernst van Hoorn's warehouse.
As you approach the entrance to the warehouse, you'll meet Sukurs' brother-in-law again. The dwarf guarding the entrance will recognize you as an old friend of Yarpen Zigrin and tells the merchant to leave. Now you have to convince the dwarf to let you enter the warehouse.
- Yarpen sends his regards (Pay 200 crowns) - 20XP
- Oughta let me in. You need Delusion (3) - 40XP
- Gotta get inside. - Available only if you sided with Iorveth (You made that decision in the "Imperial Audience" quest.)
10. Use your Witcher Senses to find crates containing crafting supplies and mark them with chalk. 0/3
Find and mark three crates.
11. Tell Sukrus to take the crates. / Defeat Ernst van Hoorn and his thugs.
When you're done, just go to talk to Sukrus. When you get out of the warehouse, you'll run into Ernst van Hoorn himself and his men. Sukrus and his brother-in-law will also be there. Sukrus' brother-in-law will stand by your side and no matter what you say, the fight with Ernst van Hoorn and his men will begin.
You'll have to defeat Ernst (24) and a few of his bandits (23).When the fight is over, Sukrus and his brother-in-law will reconcile with each other.
12. Talk to Hattori about the sword he promised you.
Go back to Hattori and ask him if he can forge your sword. He will inform you that the sword should be ready in a few days.
From now on, you can forge anything you want from him because he is a master blacksmith.
