Quest Group: Main Quests
Suggested level: 12
Location: Novigrad
Prerequisites: To play this quest, you must first complete the quest Broken Flowers.
You will receive this mission at the end of the Broken Flowers quest, after Priscilla tells you about Dandelion's plans to rob the treasure from Sigi Reuven and the ruckus raised by him at Whoreson Junior headquarters.
Thanks to the lovely Priscilla, Geralt now knew Ciri and I had struck a deal with Whoreson Junior, one of the Big Four bosses of the Novigrad underworld. It seemed a simple matter of finding Whoreson, having a chat and getting out of him where to look for me. But in the Novigrad of the time nothing was simple, and nothing was as it seemed...
Go to the Bathhouse in Novigrad and knock on the door. Introduce yourself and say that you want to meet the owner. After a while, you should be let in. The doorkeeper Happen will inform you that the meeting is in the baths so you should leave your clothes in the dressing room.
As Happen suggested, go to the dressing room and put your clothes in one of the dressers. Then follow him until you get to the private room in bathhouse where you will meet Sigi Reuven, the King of Beggars and Cleaver, who are talking about Whoreson Junior, with whom they apparently have a problem.
Sigi Reuven is your old acquaintance Sigismund Dijkstra. After a while, some of Whoreson Junior's henchmen will come to the bathhouse who apparently want to kill you.
Kill all the attackers (12). Sigi had some weapons hidden in the bathroom that you can use.
When you get rid of them, Cleaver, who is convinced that Junior should be eliminated, will tell you that if you want to find Junior then you should visit him and then he will leave the bathhouse -you will receive a new secondary quest - The Gangs of Novigrad.
The king of beggars will also leave the bathhouse after a while. You and Reuven will dress up and go to his chambers to talk in private to each other. You will talk about the past for a while and then when you tell him what brings you to him, he'll tell you where you can try to find out more about Junior. The places to look for Junior are the casino, arena and his house.
You can also ask him about Dandelion and continue the other main quest - Count Reuven's Treasure.
Note: You can visit both the casino and the arena in the company of Cleaver's men, fulfilling The Gangs of Novigrad quest. Then some of the stages described below will be skipped.
Note: On the way to the arena you may come across the Corpse of Zdenek in which you find a Certificate. When you read it, you will get an extra possibility when you talk to the bouncers who are guarding the entrance to the arena.
Certificate
Let it hereby be known that the Bearer of this document is entitled to fight in the ring under the name of Zdenek.
Go to the Whoreson Junior's Arena and talk to the bouncers guarding the entrance. You need to convince them to let you in. You can:
Go down to the underground, find Igor and ask him about the job. It's best not to mention Junior, because if you're too pushy, you'll be attacked. Igor will want to test you. You'll have to fight a few fights in the arena for this.
You can start fighting in the arena right away or prepare yourself first.
Your first opponent will be Gustav Roene. When you defeat him, you can either kill him or spare him. If you spare him, you will have to kill a few wild dogs (9) that will be released into the arena, but Gustav will help you in all your next fights. Then in the next few fights, you will face two Skelige warriors (12), wyvern (11), two endregas (10,12) and finally a big bear - Boris (11).
When you defeat all your competitors, Junior himself will appear on the audience stand. You won't talk to each other for too long because the arena will be attacked by Cleaver's men. Junior tells Igor and his men to kill you and he will leave the arena.
Igor and some of his thugs will run into the arena. Kill them all and then search Igor's body and take the Igor's key.
With the key found in Igor's body, you can open a small box standing on the table next to the chair where Igor was sitting when you first met him. Take and read the document found in the box.
Message from Igor
Since there's been some misunderstanding lately about the valuables, and a bit of blood's been spilt for no ploughing reason whatsoever, I'd like to reassure you - all the coin is safe and sound in the lock box. The blind arsehole who thought it was missing was looking in the wrong place - walk down the corridor leading from the upper level towards the arena, turn so your back's to the grating and look to the wall opposite you. If you've eyes to see, you'll find what you're looking for.
Let me emphasize that Whoreson Junior's crowns have not been touched, not a single copper's missing. I swear on my own handsome head that they're secure and waiting to be picked up.
Igor
Go back to the lower level and find the wall shown on the picture below. Turn the torch and you will open the hidden passage.
There's a mysterious letter in one of the chests. Read it and you'll find out about Junior's deal with the Redanians.
Mysterious letter
To Whoreson Junior:
King Radovid is unhappy with your performance. You were to rid the city of the other members of the so-called "Big Four," yet not only do they still live, but they also now know of your role in their attempted assassination. That was not our arrangement.
For the time being, hide in the place which the messenger delivering this missive will indicate to you and stay out of sight. His Majesty lives in the hope that mutual animosity between the other members of the Big Four will finish the job which you attempted, yet flubbed so badly.
M.
Go to the Whoreson Junior's Casino and talk to the bouncers standing at the entrance. You need to convince them to let you in.
On the middle floor of the casino you will find three players with whom you can play gwent. Don't ask them about Junior, just win with two of them in gwent. They're using the Monsters, Scoia'tael, and Nilfgaardian Empire decks and they play pretty well.
When you win twice, the casino manager will show up and offer you a higher stake game in the room on the top floor. When you go there with him you will discover that this is really the interrogation room and you will be attacked. You will have to kill them.
If at any stage of your visit to the casino you are attacked by Junior's thugs, then you just have to kill them all. If this happens before the manager takes you to the interrogation room located on the top floor, then you'll have to go there on your own.
You'll meet a halfling named Rico in the interrogation room. When you talk to him, you'll learn that Junior made a deal with the Redanians. If you release him, he will tell you to visit the King of Beggars, who will reward you for your help. A new secondary quest will appear in your journal - Honor Among Thieves.
The Whoreson Junior's House is located in the northern part of Novigrad. When you get there you will meet Cleaver's men who have already thoroughly searched the house. Go inside, find and examine any three clues and then Geralt will realize that he will not find anything interesting there.
When you discover that Junior has made a deal with the Redanians, then you will be able to talk to Dijkstra about it. He'll suggest that you talk to your old friend Vernon Roche.
You'll meet Vernon Roche inside. Ask him about Junior and he'll tell you you should go with him to the chess club in Oxenfurt.
Vernon Roche will be waiting for you near the east gate to Oxenfurt. Go with him to the nearby buildings where the Chess Club is located. King Radovid himself will be waiting for you inside. He will tell you where you will find Junior and announce that he will want you to pay him back soon.
When you leave the club, Roche will ask you for a favor because he has a problem with Ves. A new quest will pop up in your journal - An Eye for an Eye.
Go to the Oxenfurt residence that Radovid told you about - Whoreson's Hideout, and talk to the two henchmen watching the gate. If you have used force while visiting the casino or arena, then you will be recognized by them and you will have to kill them. Otherwise, if you tell them that you are the new guy in charge of delivering the girls, they will tell you that you should use the back entrance.
Kill both guards and take the Key to Whoreson Junior's estate from the body of one of them that you can use to open the main gate.
The entrance is a tunnel through which you can get to the mansion is located inside one of the houses located southeast of the mansion.
Walk through the tunnel until you reach the wall you can demolish with an Aard sign. When you do that, you will enter the basement of the residence.
You will encounter a dozen or so Junior's people at the residence that you will have to eliminate. Junior can be found in one of the rooms on the top floor. When you get there, Geral will overpower Junior and force him to tell him what he knows about Ciri.
Junior will show you the magic box - phylactery, he was going to fix for Ciri. He'll also tell you about how Ciri rescued Dudu from his hands - Ciri's Story: Visiting Junior.
In the end, you will be able to decide whether to leave Junior alive or kill him. If you decided to kill him:
Fate is like a Novigrad prostitute - sometimes you get more than you bargained for. Geralt found Whoreson after a great deal of meandering, during which he realized the man he sought was scum of the worst variety. Because of Whoreson, Ciri had been wounded, I had landed in prison, and Dudu had been subjected to torture.
It thus came as no surprise that, once he had the information he wanted, Geralt killed the heinous man without batting an eye. Having achieved what he set out to do and lanced a particularly loathsome boil on the skin of humanity while he was at it, he went forth to pursue his new leads.
If you decide to let him live:
Fate is like a Novigrad prostitute - sometimes you get more than you bargained for. Geralt found Whoreson after a great deal of meandering, during which he realized the man he sought was scum of the worst variety. Because of Whoreson, Ciri had been wounded, I had landed in prison, and Dudu had been subjected to torture.
This man surely deserved death, yet Geralt decided the greater punishment would be to let him live in shame and agony. Having achieved what he wanted and brought justice to a vile man while he was at it, he then set off to follow his new leads.
After completing this quest, you will be able to play the quests The Play's the Thing, A Favor for Radovid.
