Carnal Sins Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Quest

Suggested level: 16

Group: Secondary Quests

Location: Novigrad

This quest is a direct continuation of the "Cabaret" quest and begins as soon as a messenger runs into the inn with information that Priscilla was attacked and was taken to the hospital.

Telling this story, my dear reader, will tax me greatly. It is a dark and somber one, encompassing the greatest sorrow my heart has ever known. It all started the day of the grand opening of my cabaret. Everything had been spit-polished to perfection - all that was left was to wait for Priscilla, whose performance was to be the crowning moment of this glorious evening. Yet when the doors of the Chameleon burst open it was not she who stepped inside. Instead, it was a messenger from the Vilmerius Hospital. His face pale and his countenance dour, he informed us Priscilla had been badly wounded in an assault - and was currently tottering on the brink of death.

Prior quests

To begin Carnal Sins you must first complete Cabaret.

Quest stages of Carnal Sins

1. Talk to Dandelion.

Dandelion will ask you to go to the hospital together, and you will go there immediately. Priscilla has been seriously injured and is unconscious. Dr. Joachim von Gratz, who is taking care of her, will tell you what the situation is. According to him, Priscilla was attacked by some psychopath. He'll also tell you about a previous victim who had similar injuries but did not survive the attack. You'll decide to conduct an unofficial investigation to find the perpetrator. You will start your search by getting through the sewers to the morgue to examine the body of the victim mentioned by the doctor.

Talk to Dandelion.

2. Go meet with Von Gratz. / Go through the sewers to get to the mortuary.

You can go to the morgue immediately after talking to the doctor or join him a little later. The entrance to the canals is located near the marker]18733[/marker].

Go meet with Von Gratz. / Go through the sewers to get to the mortuary.

In the sewers you'll come across some drowners (16) and a water hag (17) that you'll have to kill. You'll eventually get to the ladder that will take you to the mortuary.

Go meet with Von Gratz. / Go through the sewers to get to the mortuary.

3. Find the dwarven woodcarver's body using your Witcher Senses.

In the morgue, find the corpse of a dwarf carpenter and then start the autopsy. You can examine the head, torso, hands, legs and genitals of the dwarf. You can finish the autopsy relatively quickly, but if you at least examine his head and torso thoroughly, you will be able to conclude that it was a ritualistic murder in which fire played a major role.

Find the dwarven woodcarver's body using your Witcher Senses.

When you finish the autopsy, coroner Hubert Rejk will come to the mortuary, he's familiar with Joachim and will be friendly to you. He will even give you some information about the deceased. Unfortunately, soon afterwards, Reverend Nathaniel Pastodi will appear in the morgue and order the coroner to take you outside.

Find the dwarven woodcarver's body using your Witcher Senses.

4. Find Eustace the corpse collector. / Talk to Eustace.

You'll find Eustace east of the morgue. To learn anything from him you have to pay him 200 crowns (20XP) or use Delusion (2) (40 XP). He will then show you the letter he found in the dwarf carpenter's pocket. The letter was made from human skin and contained the name of the next victim, that is Priscilla.

Find Eustace the corpse collector. / Talk to Eustace.

If Eustace wasn't so greedy and gave the letter he found to whom he needed, Priscilla could have avoided what happened to her, so in the end you can hit him "for everything" or leave without doing so.

5. Investigate the alley where Priscilla was attacked using your Witcher Senses.

In the alley where Priscilla was attacked, you'll come across a prostitute named Whistling Wendy and three poor townsmen (16) who will attack you soon after you get close to the crime scene. Knock them out, and then Wendy will tell you that they thought you were the killer who came back to the crime scene and they attacked you becouse they wanted to avenge Priscilla.

Investigate the alley where Priscilla was attacked using your Witcher Senses.

Then examine the clues in the area. When you examine them all, you will find out that the perpetrator jumped over a high wall that even you would not be able to jump over. On the wall you will also find a sermon written by a follower of eternal fire.

6. Examine the place where the woodcarver died using your Witcher Senses. / Examine the woodcarver's workshop using your Witcher Senses.

When you get to the dwarf's house, a guard will stop you and tell you that the coroner wants to see you because another victim has been found.

Examine the place where the woodcarver died using your Witcher Senses. / Examine the woodcarver's workshop using your Witcher Senses.

Knock on the door of the building and the brother of the Fabian - Gus, will let you in. Talk to him and then look for clues in the yard. Traces of blood will lead you to the workshop door.

Examine the place where the woodcarver died using your Witcher Senses. / Examine the woodcarver's workshop using your Witcher Senses.

Workshop is locked but Gus will open it for you. Examine the clues you find there.

7. Talk to the coroner.

Return to the morgue and talk to the coroner who's ready to autopsy another victim. When you examine the body, you'll find a piece of human skin with the name of the next victim. It's Patricia Vegelbud.

Talk to the coroner.

8. Go to the Vegelbuds' residence. / Follow Ingrid to Patricia's room.

Go to the Vegelbud Residence. Talk to the guard at the gate and he'll bring you in. In the garden you will meet Ingrid. Tell her about the danger her mother is in and you will go to Patricia's room together.

Go to the Vegelbuds' residence. / Follow Ingrid to Patricia's room.

When you get to her mother's room, Ingrid will go in first and after a while you will hear her scream. When you run inside, you will see that her mother was murdered and the murderer ran out the other door.

9. Chase the murderer.

Chase the murderer until you reach the guards who will take you for the killer. Start fighting them and after a while you'll be captured by them and taken to the heiress.

Chase the murderer.

Geralt will ask Ingrid for permission to examine her mother's body and she'll agree to it. At the body you will find another letter with the name of the next victim and the place where the attack is to take place.

Chase the murderer.

10. Find Sweet Nettie at Crippled Kate's. / Enter Sweet Nettie's room.

Return to Novigrad and go to the Crippled Kate's brothel. When you get there you will find out that Sweet Nettie is on the top floor with some important customer. Go there. When you enter her room, you will find her tied up and tortured by Reverend Nathaniel.

Find Sweet Nettie at Crippled Kate's. / Enter Sweet Nettie's room.

By choosing the option "Try it, asshole.", you can, without any unnecessary conversation, rush to the rescue of the poor girl. The fight will start and you will have to kill Nathaniel.

By choosing one of the other options (First, I gotta know why. or Just like that? No formaldehyde?) you will be able to talk to him first. If you conduct the conversation properly (Seen your victims. You never stop at that. > So who left the letter on Patricia's body?), you will find out that he likes to have fun in a specific, sadistic way, but also that he is not the killer but coroner Hubert. He will also tell you where you can find coroner. In the end, you can let him continue to play with Nattie, use the delusion (3) to convince him never to do it again or kill him.

Find Sweet Nettie at Crippled Kate's. / Enter Sweet Nettie's room.

If you left without killing Nathaniel:

Geralt's investigation took him to Crippled Kate's, a pleasure house of dubious repute. It is there, according to the note left by the murderer on Patricia Vegelbud's body, that the fiend would take his next victim - a prostitute named Sweet Nettie. Geralt entered her room and inside he found the Reverend Nathaniel, whom he had met earlier at the morgue. Though the situation seemed unambiguous - Nathaniel was standing over Nettie with a white-hot poker in his hand - Geralt did not let his emotions get the better of him. He spoke calmly with the cruel pervert, and in this way determined the identity of the true murderer.

11. (Optional) Kill Nathaniel.

You will be able to kill Nathaniel as soon as you get to the top floor of the brothel, when you think it should be done when you speak with him, or after the conversation to keep Nettie away from further torture.

If you killed Nathaniel without talking to him:

Geralt's investigation took him to Crippled Kate's, a pleasure house of questionable repute. It is there, according to the note left by the murderer in Patricia Vegelbud's body, that the fiend would take his next victim - a prostitute named Sweet Nettie.

Geralt entered her room and found the Reverend Nathaniel, whom he had met earlier at the morgue, inside. The situation was clear - Nathanial was standing over Nettie with a white-hot poker in his hand - so Geralt meted out justice to this cruel and perverted man without batting an eye.

If you killed Nathaniel after talking to him, and you found out who the real killer is:

Geralt's investigation took him to Crippled Kate's, a pleasure house of questionable repute. It is there, according to the note left by the murderer in Patricia Vegelbud's body, that the fiend would take his next victim - a prostitute named Sweet Nettie.

Geralt entered her room and found the Reverend Nathaniel, whom he had met earlier at the morgue, inside. Though the situation seemed unambiguous - Nathanial was standing over Nettie with a white-hot poker in his hand - Geralt did not let his emotions get the better of him. He spoke calmly with the cruel pervert until he could identify the true murderer - then killed Nathaniel without batting an eye.

When you kill Nathaniel, you can also approach Nettie and free her and then she will thank you.

12. (Optional) Go to the warehouse near the port. / Kill the vampire.

If you have learned from Nathaniel that Hubert is the murderer, then you can go to the storeroom where he should be and face him. It will turn out that he is a vampire and that the murders were to be some kind of lesson to the people living in the fallen Novigrad city.

(Optional) Go to the warehouse near the port. / Kill the vampire.

Then the coroner will take his true form - a vampire (16) - and you will have to kill him. In his corpse you will find a relic silver sword - Deargdeith.

(Optional) Go to the warehouse near the port. / Kill the vampire.

13. Talk to Dandelion about Priscilla's condition.

Go back to the hospital. Luckily, Priscilla is recovering quickly, even her voice did not suffer as much as it seemed at first. Dandelion will thank you for your help and the quest will be over.

Talk to Dandelion about Priscilla's condition.

If you found out who the real killer is.

Hubert Rejk seemed like a kind, gentle and accommodating man - but in truth he was a bloodthirsty, brutal and murderous vampire, hiding a twisted and fanatical mind behind his never-changing mask of eternal youth. Geralt cut him down after an extraordinarily difficult duel, avenging my Priscilla's suffering and saving the lives of the countless others who surely would have died by this base monster's hands.

If you killed Nathaniel before he told you who the real killer is.

Sadly, though Nathaniel was guilty of many sins, serial killing was not among them. Some time after his death Geralt happened across the body of another victim, one mutilated in an all-too-familiar way. This time, however, the murderer had learned from experience and wiped all possible clues to his identity. The witcher thus could not catch him, and the death of countless innocents, and my Priscilla's suffering, went unavenged.
