A Towerful of Mice Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Quest

This quest is a continuation of An Invitation from Keira Metz quest. The sorceress will ask you to help her remove the curse that afflicts the Fyke island.

A horrible curse had befallen Fyke Isle and the tower that stood upon it. Half a year prior, Lord Vserad had moved his court there, seeking shelter from approaching Nilfgaardian armies. While famine raged all around, the lord of Velen wallowed in excess and cared not a whit for his suffering vassals. The gods saw fit to punish him and, towards this end, cursed him. One day, a host of mice scurried into the tower and proceeded to devour everything, including Vserad, his court and his resident mage, Alexander.

The isle had been haunted since that day, and fishermen feared to sail the lake, putting yet another dent in the already battered local economy. The local peasants thus asked Keira to lift the curse, and she turned to the witcher for help. Enticed by Keira's charms and her promise of additional rewards, Geralt took on the task. The sorceress equipped him with a magic lamp he could use to commune with dead souls, gave him a firm pat on the rear for good luck and sent him off to lift the curse.

To begin A Towerful of Mice you must first complete An Invitation from Keira Metz.

Quest stages of A Towerful of Mice

1. Find a way to get to Fyke Isle. / Use Keira's boat to reach Fyke Isle.

The easiest way to get to the island is, as Keira suggested, to use her boat. You can of course use any boat.

Get in the boat, go to the island and get ashore. During the trip to the island Keira will contact you for the first time via Xenovox.

2. (Optional) Use the magic lamp to find ghosts.

There are three places outdoors (Place of Haunting #1, Place of Haunting #2, Place of Haunting #3), where you can use the lamp you got from Keira. Look for the green glow or the lamp icon on the minimap. Two such places are outside the walls and the third one is right next to the tower. Use the lantern in these places to see short scenes from the past. If you watch the whole scene, then you will get some XP.

The other places where you can use the lamp are inside the tower. In the basement, on the first and second floor, and the last one at the very top of the tower, in the mage Alexander's laboratory.

3. Head toward the tower. / Explore the tower.

Head to the tower located on the island. Defeat any rotfiends, drowners, ghouls or water hag you'll meet on the way there.

In the tower you can examine some clues you find or listen to the ghosts and learn a little about the events that took place there. When you reach the top of the tower, Keira will contact you via Xenovox and tell you that there's one more, hidden floor of the tower and that you should find a way to get to the mage Alexander's lab located on it.

4. Find the mage Alexander's laboratory.

Find two levers and switch one of them so that both are in the lower position. This will open a secret passage through which you will be able to get to the lab.

5. Use Keira's lamp to investigate Alexander's laboratory. / Use the magic lamp to contact Anabelle.

When you're in the lab, use the lamp you got from Keira and you will be able to talk to the spirit of Anabelle, the daughter of the previous lord of Velen, who died during a peasant attack.

Having learned from her what happened in the tower, Geralt will conclude that the only way to lift the curse is so that Anabelle reunite with her former beloved Graham. Anabelle will suggest that you take her bones to Graham so he can bury her remains and prove his love for her.

Anabelle's explanations seem a little incoherent and suspicious to Geralt so you can accept or deny her request.

6. (Optional) If you refuse Anabelle's request

This ending can be considered a better ending.

6.1. Defeat the plague maiden. / Follow the plague maiden.

Anabelle will show her true face and turn into Pesta. Hit her once or twice and she'll start running away. Run after her to the outside of the tower. There fight her again and when her life bar runs out, she will vanish. That way you can't kill her.

6.2. Talk to Keira and find out who Graham is.

After the fight, Keira will contact you via Xenovox. You tell her what you have learned and she will tell you where to find Graham.

6.3. Talk to Graham about Anabelle.

Go to the fisherman's hut where Graham lives and tell him about Anabelle's fate. He will decide to go with you to the island to prove to Anabelle how much he loves her and help you to lift the curse from her.

6.4. Meet Graham on Fyke Isle. / Take Graham to Anabelle.

You can go to the island automatically, together with Graham, right after the conversation. You can also tell him to go to the island and wait for you near the tower.

Go with Graham to the top of the tower. Kill the wraiths that will stand in your way. When you get there, Anabell will demand that Graham kiss her. He'll fulfill her request, and thus he'll remove the curse from her. Anabelle's spirit will finally leave in peace, but Graham has to pay for it with his own life.

During his investigation of the isle, Geralt discovered the lord's daughter, Anabelle, was the key to lifting the curse. She had died along with the others and her spirit now roamed the tower's empty halls, trapped in this vale of tears by her love for a fisherman named Graham. Geralt lifted the curse by bringing Graham back to see his love, but the story did not end happily. The young man's kiss dispatched the wraith into eternal slumber, but killed Graham - for, as Geralt realized all too late, Anabelle's ghost had become a deadly plague maiden, a spectral sower of disease and pestilence.

7. (Optional) If you follow Anabelle's request

This ending can be considered a bad ending.

7.1. Take Anabelle to Graham.

You will pick up the remains of Anabelle. Now you have to go to the Graham's house near Oreton. Graham really loved Anabelle and wasn't aware that she didn't die after drinking the poison only later when she was eaten alive by rats. Graham will agree to bury the remains of his beloved and take them from you.

When you leave him and walk away a little, you will hear a scream coming from inside Graham's house.

7.2. Investigate what happened.

Go back to Graham's house and you will see Anabelle inside in the form of a plague maiden, and Graham's corpse lying on the ground.

During his investigation of the isle, Geralt discovered the lord's daughter, Anabelle, was the key to lifting the curse. She had died along with the others and her spirit now roamed the tower's empty halls, trapped in this vale of tears by her love for a fisherman named Graham.

Geralt thought taking her remains to the fisherman would solve everything - but instead it led to catastrophe. Anabelle, he discovered, was not an unfortunate lost soul but a dangerous plague maiden. The wraith had tricked Geralt - when he removed Anabelle's remains from the tower the plague maiden was freed from her prison and ventured out into the world to spread disease and pestilence.

8. Tell Keira you've lifted the curse on Fyke Isle.

Go back to the house where Keira lives and inform her about the effects of your actions. Keira will ask you for another favor.

After completing A Towerful of Mice you will get or will be able to get A Favor for a Friend.
