Exit the house and approach your father, who is waiting for you nearby. Follow him along the path to the northeast until you reach the training spot.
I'll try to prove to my father I know my way around a sword.
Whether you win or lose the duel does not matter. After it ends, you will sit down and talk.
Your father will tell you about Vladimir's plans and the rebellion - after which this quest will end.
If you still have some time left before evening, you can choose whether to skip straight to the evening or use that time another way. Naturally, it is best to use it to complete some side quests.
