Prerequisites: To play this mission, you must first complete the mission The New South.

You will be able to begin this mission shortly after The New South mission has been completed. To do this, go to the Rhodes Sheriff's Office where you will meet Dutch, Bill and Sheriff Gray. The sheriff will ask you to destroy the moonshine camp in the woods and will temporarily make you his deputies.

Arthur, Dutch and Bill become temporarily deputized citizens of Scarlett Meadows County as they help Deputy Archibald shut down a moonshine distillery and steal a wagonload of the Braithwaites' moonshine.

Objectives of American Distillation

1. Get in the wagon / Ride to the swamp

Get on the wagon driven by Deputy Archibald, waiting for you on the street. Dutch and Bill will follow you on the horses.

Along the way, Archibald will spot a damaged carriage next to the road and stop to examine it.

2. Follow Archibald

Get out of the wagon and come up to the damaged coach.

Archibald will examine the damaged coach and the body lying next to it, and then he will return to your wagon.

3. Get in the wagon / Ride to the swamp

Return to your wagon and continue your journey until you reach the final destination. This time it will be you who will drive the wagon.

4. Follow Archibald

Get off the wagon. Before following Archibald and others, look into your horse's saddlebag and take long-range weapons. You'll soon find them useful, especially if you want to win a gold medal in this mission.

5. Lead Bill left or right / Help Bill knock out the Moonshiners without being spotted

Choose a left or right path and then sneak slowly along with Bill to the moonshiners. Watch your minimap to see the cones of vision of your enemies. Choosing the right side seems to me to be a little easier.

Take one of the moonshiners from behind and quietly knock him down.

6. Take cover from the Moonshiner until it's safe

Stay crouching until the other moonshiner stops looking for his colleague.

7. Hogtie the unconscoius Moonshiner

Tie up the guy you knocked down. In the meantime, Bill will knock down the second one of the moonshiners.

If you choose the left side, the first opponent standing on the car can be knocked down by Bill (you have to tell Bill to do it). The only thing you can do is to go from behind and knock down the guy standing next to the distillery. You can also stun both of them yourself.

8. Pick up the Moonshiner / Carry the Moonshiner to the wagon / Drop the Moonshiner with the other captives

Pick up the moonshiner, carry him to the wagon and place him with the other captives next to the wagon.

9. Wait for Archibald's instructions / Plant dynamite in the distillery / Stand clear from the distillery and blow the dynamite

Wait till Archibald tells you what to do. Next, go to the distillery, select the dynamite from the weapon wheel, place the dynamite, ignite it, and quickly move away to a safe distance to avoid any damage from the explosion.

You can also lay down a stick of dynamite, move back to a safe distance and then shoot it to explode.

10. Find Bill / Take out the Lemoyne Raiders

As soon as the explosion occurs, Lemoyne Raiders will appear. They are in a camp south of where you are. Go there.

Since this mission requires you to have a high accuracy, head shots and NO personal damage, you should stay away from your opponents and use a long-range weapons.

Stay back and use all kinds of covers. Luckily, there are a lot of barrels, crates, etc. in the area. Let Bill go forward and take damage, and you concentrate on headshots. In this mission you can use Dead Eye renewing mixtures without any limitations so use this opportunity.

When it's safe, carefully come a little closer, e.g. from the side. Watch your opponents' positions on the minimap at all times.

11. Return to Dutch / Get on your horse / Follow Dutch

Once you've eliminated your last opponents, get back to the wagon.

Dutch will offer Archibald that you will destroy the remaining illegal alcohol, but of course he has no intention of doing so. Bill will drive away with a moonshine wagon and you and Dutch get on your horses to get back to the camp.

12. Race Dutch back to Camp

At some point Dutch will offer you a horse race to the camp. Accepting and winning this race is one of the requirements to earn a gold medal. You don't have to go the same way as Dutch. You can follow a straight line to your camp.
