This tale will be unlocked when you reach Toyotama and finish "A New Horizon" main tale. To begin it, find Kenji in Umugi Cove.

Go to Umugi Cove and talk to Kenji, who you will find near the shrine in the north part of the village. He will ask you to discreetly protect him during his meeting with a bandit to whom he has to hand over some money.
Once more, I find myself helping Kenji out with his problems. It does seem he was attempting to help others instead of himself. I hope the tale he shared is true and I won't uncover anything else as I protect him from a bandit named Gon the Butcher.
Ride with Kenji to the bridge where the meeting is to take place. When you get close, you will dismount and Kenji will go to the meeting. You should find a place from where you can watch him.
When you get a little closer, you'll notice that the area is surrounded by Gon's bandits. You'll realize it's a trap.
Start killing Gon's bandits quietly. You have limited time for this because after a while Kenji will start calling for help.
Kenji will run around trying to hide somewhere. You can't let anyone kill him. Besides a bunch of bandits, you'll have to deal with a few Mongols, including the leader, who will also show up.
Once it is safe, you will talk to each other for a while about what Kenji should work on, and this tale will be over.
