This mythic tale will be unlocked at a later stage of the first act. By talking to the people you meet you can learn about the musician in Hiyoshi Springs. You may also need to finish some main tales to meet the musician.

Quest stages of The Curse of Uchitsune

1. Find the musician in Hiyoshi

When the tale is unlocked, you can meet the musician next to one of the houses in the northeastern part of Hiyoshi Springs and listen to his story about the cursed bow.

Note: This is the same house next to which the Hiyoshi Bamboo Strike is located.

Find the musician in Hiyoshi

In Hiyoshi, I heard a tale about Uchitsune and his mythic longbow. It's said he killed a tengu with a single arrow - then lost his mind and killed countless innocent people.

If his bow is still on Tsushima, I will find it and see if it's truly cursed.

2. Search the Hiyoshi coast for blue flowers / Follow the blue flowers

Head east to the marked area and you should find plenty of blue flowers there. In the middle of the search area you should find a large rock formation. Find a gap through which you can get inside. It will turn out to be the Uchitsune's Tomb.

3. Investigate the tomb

One of the items you will find inside the tomb will be a painting that will serve you as a clue to find next location - an island overgrown with blue flowers.

Investigate the tomb

As you leave the tomb, a mysterious figure wearing a mask of a tengu demon will appear and warn you not to search for the cursed bow and then run away.

4. Search Hiyoshi for the island / Follow the blue flowers

Head north and find the Blue Flowers Island. The blue flowers trail starts near the road east of the Castle Lookout Hot Spring. The best way to get to the island is from the west side, where you can easily get to the coast.

5. Investigate the island

In a small cave on the island, you will find another painting, this time showing a mountain.

When you leave the cave, you will receive another warning from the masked person.

6. Search Hiyoshi for the mountain / Follow the blue flowers

The mountains shown in the picture are located southwest of the Sensei Ishikawa's Dojo, so it will be easiest to fast travel to this place and move further from there. You should see the blue flowers soon.

Following them, you'll come to a clearing where you'll find a Pedestal.

Approach the pedestal and grab the longbow.

The bow will indeed turn out to be cursed and you will move to the "another dimension" where, surrounded by a lot of black birds flying around, you will have to face "the tengu demon".

Once you defeat him, you will return to the real world and the quest will be over. From now on you will be able to use a longbow...
