This quest is a follow-up of the "Gate to the Otherworld" quest. Dean Grundir asks you to investigate what happened in the Spire of the Stars. To do this, you must find a way to the spire and then reach its summit.
Grundir spoke of a strange phenomenon at the institute's spire following Octavius's disappearance. Investigate the Spire of the Stars.

1. Go to the Spire of the Stars
Head to the northeastern part of the institute, and you'll find a large dining hall there. Next to it, outside, you'll find stone stairs that will lead you higher up

Once you reach the area above the dining hall, you should notice a cave entrance. Go through it.

On the other side, climb another set of stone stairs to the top - where the spire entrance is located. The key you received from Grundir will allow you to enter.

2. Go to the top of the Spire of the Stars
To reach the summit, you must restore power to the elevator. To do this, you need to solve a puzzle. Start by collecting three engraved cubes. You'll find one in the side room on the left...

...and two in the room on the right.

To collect them, you must use Force Palm to hit the wall panels - they will then open, allowing you to pick up the stones.
While you're at it, pay attention to the paintings on the walls; they suggest the correct placement of symbols on the panel in the central room.

Place the three collected cubes into the slotted buttons located at the bottom of the central room panel.

Once you do this, the symbols will shift, and you can focus on positioning them correctly. To move a symbol, you must climb up to it and hang on it, then release it once it has moved to the required position.

You must arrange it so that the symbols are in the positions shown in the screenshot below.

Step on the elevator. It will activate and bring you to the top.

Keep running upstairs until you reach the very top.

3. Go to the Abyss
Just enter the magic gate that opens. You will be transported to the Abyss - which will complete this quest and begin the next one.

A journey to the tower was necessary to uncover the truth behind the strange phenomena tied to Octavius's experiment. Once the tower's mysteries were solved and the summit reached, passing through the portal unveiled the landscape of the Abyss, a place both recognizable and strangely foreign.
