Quest Group: Cent / The Instrument of the Ancients
Prerequisites: To play this quest, you must first complete the quest Puppets and Prisoners.
This quest will start after you set the Danes free at the end of the "Puppets and Prisoners" quest.
Assault Rouecistre and capture Tedmund.
The mechanism you have to destroy is located in the tower on the north bank of the river.
First you have to get to the room in the eastern part of this building. You can do this in two ways. You can enter through the door but to unlock it you will need a key which is held by one of the guards.
You can also climb on the roof, destroy the wooden wall and go inside. Then you should destroy the further planks, this time in the floor, and proceed to a lower level.
Then shoot through the grating to unlock the door on the west side of the building.
Go outside and through the door on the west side of the building enter the second part of the tower.
Descend the ladder and destroy two parts of the chain support mechanism.
Go to the place marked on the map and talk to one of the Nordic warriors you meet there. When nightfall comes Basim and Geadric will join you and when you are ready to start an attack, tell Basim about it.
You can focus on eliminating enemy soldiers and catapults standing on walls. You can also help operate the ram.
In order for the ram to pass further, destroy the burning oil cauldrons standing on the walls. The easiest way to do this is to shoot from a bow at their weak spots or jars standing nearby. You will have to repeat this twice. Each time it will be four cauldrons, two on each side.
To lower the drawbridge you have to shoot two links on both its sides. If you enter the moat, you should be out of reach of most hostile archers.
To make the task of the battering ram easier, shoot the jars above and in this way eliminate the soldiers who pour oil through the holes in the walls.
The easiest way to get to the top of the tower where Tedmund is located is simply to climb the outer walls.
When you enter the roof, Tedmund will attack you and you will have to defeat him. He is not a particularly difficult opponent.
The assault will end. Basim will load Tedmund on his horse and head towards the main gate. Follow him.
Cynebert and his men will be waiting for you there. Unfortunately, your plan will fail again because Tedmund will die from the poison. Then Cynebert will head back to his abbey, promising you that when you visit him there the next day, he will tell you everything he knows about Fulke.
To complete this quest, talk to Geadric and thank him for his help.
After completing this quest, you will be able to play the quest A Bloody Welcome.
