Courting the Kings Assassin's Creed Valhalla Quest

This quest starts automatically after completing the quest "The Northern Reach" at the end of which Flann informs you that Bárid has not returned from his mission.

For Flann to stay securely on the High King’s throne, he must affirm his authority over Aileach, the seat of power in the North.

Quest stages of Courting the Kings

1. Find a King's Pass

Head to Donegal. It is a raid location, so the simplest solution would be to carry out a raid.

You will receive the King's Pass when you kill one of the elite opponents you encounter there.

2. Meet the kings

When you approach one of the buildings in the settlement you will be stopped by a guard. Eivor will show him a pass and will be allowed inside.

Inside, besides King Domnal and King Niall, you will also find Bárid, who will be fine, but will pretend not to know you. In a veiled way so that the others don't notice, he will suggest you what you should do. Then you will leave the building.

3. Find and free the prisoners

The cells with prisoners are located on the lower level. You can get to the prison in different ways, for example, through holes in the wall. Fighting with the soldiers in the prison is inevitable, and in addition, to open the cells you need a key that one of the soldiers has, so start eliminating the guards in your preferred way.

You must free the five prisoners you find in the three cells.

4. Secure the prison

Together with the freed warriors, get rid of the remaining soldiers in the prison. Even if you eliminated all of them before, a few new ones will pop up.

5. Take control of Aileach

After getting rid of the soldiers in the prison, head towards the house where the kings are staying and get rid of any enemies that stand in your way.

When everyone is dead then Eivor will enter the house. From the captured kings you will learn that Abbot Eogan is behind everything. This quest will end and another will begin - "The Mask of Diplomacy".

After completing Courting the Kings you will get or will be able to get The Mask of Diplomacy.
