Open Sesame: The Safecracker Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Quest
Suggested level: 34
Group: Main Quests (Hearts of Stone)
Location: Novigrad
This is one of the supporting quests you need to complete in order to prepare for a vault break-in in the "Open Sesame!" quest.
Vaults are, as a rule, difficult to enter. Their metal-plated doors must either be teased open in silence by a skilled safecracker – or blown to smithereens by a demolitions expert. The unequalled master of the first method was Quinto, the best safecracker north of the Yaruga. The go-to specialist for the second was Casimir Bassi, a dwarf hailing from Mahakam.
Note: The safecracker you choose will make a difference in who you have to fight at the end of the "Open Sesame!" quest.
Quest stages of Open Sesame: The Safecracker
1. Convince Casimir to take part in the robbery. / (Optional) Defeat Casimir
Head to Alness. When you reach Casimir, he will try to blow himself up because his wife was cheating on him.
You will have four options to choose from:
- Really sorry. - Casimir will blow himself up and you will have to recruit Quinto.
- Set the torch aside. Let's talk this out. - Depending on how you continue the conversation, he will either blow himself up or start fighting with you. When you beat him, he will accept your job offer.
- You're pathetic. - He will start fighting with you. When you beat him, he will accept your job offer.
- Get down. Now. (Delusion level 2) - He will accept your job offer.
Geralt chose to recruit Casimir to join his crew. Expecting to have to persuade the dwarf to abandon his idyllic family life, Geralt found himself instead convincing the dwarf to cling to any life at all. Abandoned by his wife, Casimir was set on exploding himself and his wrecked home in a spectacularly effective suicide – until he heard the witcher's offer.
2. Go to the mercenaries' camp and talk to Quinto. / Convince Hans to free Quinto. / (Optional) Defeat Hans in a fistfight.
Quinto has been captured by Hans of Cidaris, who keeps him in a cage in his camp located southeast of the herbalist's hut. Hans will demand 200 crowns from you for releasing Quinto.
Note: If you have completed the "Contract: The Creature from Oxenfurt Forest" quest for him and wanted too much money, it could be 400 crowns. (?)
- Let's make a deal. - You can haggle with him and reduce the price.
- Fine. I'll pay. - Pay him as much as he wants.
- How about a game of gwent? - You can play cards with Hans. If you win you will not have to pay anything. Otherwise, the price will be doubled.
- You're acting like an old fishwife. - You insult him and propose a fistfight. If you beat him, he will release Quinto, if you lose, the price will be doubled.
You can recruit a Quinto as soon as he is released or tell him you don't need him yet. If you tell him to wait, he will tell you that you can meet him in Oxenfurt at midnight.
Geralt decided on Quinto. Hans of Cidaris was holding the man captive, so Geralt first had to free him… though once he did, he had the impression the famed safecracker could have waltzed out of his prison at any time without his help. The ease with which Quinto opened his cell's lock boded well for his chances of cracking open the door to the Borsodis' vault.
