Defender of the Faith Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Quest

Suggested level: 10

Group: Secondary Quests

Location: Velen

You can start this quest by helping the Distraught Woman you can meet on the road between Crow's Perch and Blackbough fix the destroyed shrine. Then she'll ask you to fix two more shrines in Velen.

Note: The order in which you visit the shrines is up to you.

Geralt has a "live and let live" policy regarding the gods and their worshipers: if they don't bother him, he returns the favor. Sadly, not everyone follows this sage precept. A distraught woman in Velen informed him someone had been destroying the shrines that dot that region's roadsides. She begged him to repair the damage and, if possible, punish those responsible. Though he did not share the woman's devotion or outrage at this sacrilege, he decided to help all the same.

Quest stages of Defender of the Faith

1. Fix all the damaged shrines. 1/3

One of the shrines you need to repair is right next to the Duén Hen signpost. If this is the second shrine you're going to visit, then before you can fix it you will have to kill an endrega warrior (11).

Fix all the damaged shrines. 1/3

In the third location you'll come across some students from Oxenfurt Academy destroying the shrine.

Fix all the damaged shrines. 1/3

You can let them do their work, but then the quest will end up as failed.

While following the trail of damaged holy sites Geralt encountered a group of young men who, he learned, were students at Oxenfurt Academy. Influenced by some radical philosopher, they had taken up arms in the battle against religion. The witcher engaged them in a philosophical discussion which threatened to come to blows, but luckily merely ended with an exchange of profanities and insults.

2. Defeat the vandals.

If you don't let them destroy the shrine, then you'll have to defeat them in a fistfight (If you want, you can draw your sword or use the signs).

While following the trail of damaged holy sites Geralt encountered a group of young men who, he learned, were students at Oxenfurt Academy. Influenced by some radical philosopher, they had taken up arms in the battle against religion. As is often the case with students, what began as a measured discussion of worldviews ended in a brawl.
