Contract: Missing Brother Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Quest
Suggested level: 33
Group: Witcher Contracts
Location: Velen
You can start this quest by reading the "Missing: Mikel" notice posted on the Inn at the Crossroads Notice Board, or by finding the Arachas Mine directly.
Though Geralt had plenty of other worries, he had not forgotten about his trade - which is, let I remind you, slaying monsters. While striving to practice his profession he came across a contract offering an altogether attractive sum in return for tracking down a certain missing individual. No mention of monsters, true, but Geralt had seen enough incidents of its like to suspect one might turn up - and besides, when it comes down to it, coin is coin...

Quest stages of Contract: Missing Brother
1. Talk to Bruno.
You'll find Bruno in the Inn at the Crossroads. He will tell you that his brother, Mikel, went with some women who had lost their homes as a result of the war to a nearby mine to look for shelter for them there and has not returned yet. He'll ask you to find his brother. You can haggle with him about the amount of money - 280+ crowns.
2. Find the missing brother in the mine near the Inn at the Crossroads. / Explore the mine using your Witcher Senses.
Go to the Arachas Mine. In front of the mine you will find the corpse and traces of a four-legged monster. Head inside and down the ladder, then follow the traces to the left (you can also go right, but it's a longer way). There are some bloodstains and corpses of the victims in the mine that you can examine. Locate the wooden structures in the central part of the mine and climb up the ladder. There you will find the only woman who survived and you can talk to her for a while.
You can switch the lever nearby and thus drop the bridge, and the woman will be able to leave the mine.
3. Find out where the monsters in the mine are coming from using your Witcher Senses. / (Optional) Use witcher Signs to destroy all the eggs 0/12 / Investigate the arachas' lair using your Witcher Senses.
If you turned left after entering the mine, you had to pass a small recess where the beginning of the underwater tunnel is located. Go there, dive there and swim to the other side.
On the other side of the tunnel you will find four arachas' eggs. Examine them and then use aard or igni sign to destroy them. You will find another four eggs in the another cave, which you will reach by passing through another underwater tunnel. You'll find the last four eggs by going through the tunnel heading west. If you destroy the eggs, you'll make it easier for yourself to fight the final boss - no ads.
Following the tunnel leading west, you will reach the cave where you will find the remains of Bruno's brother, and the final boss - Harrisi.
In my experience, mines either hold precious metals or (more frequently) deadly monsters. The latter, in the form of arachasae, were present in great abundance in the Velen pits. Geralt knew he had to annihilate them for good - meaning he had to kill the female and destroy all the eggs she had lain.
4. Kill the arachas. / Take a trophy from the arachas' body.
Kill Harrisi. If you didn't destroy all the eggs, you'd also have to deal with a few young arachas (5). Take the Arachas trophy (5% Chance to find additional herbs).
5. Collect your reward.
Go back to Bruno. When you tell him his brother's dead, he won't be willing to pay you. You'll have 3 options:
- I risked my life. - 84 crowns and 200 XP.
- Give me the reward (Delusion 3). - 40 XP + 200 XP + he'll give you as much money as you've agreed to.
- I'm not going to beg. - 300 XP.
Arachasae are incredibly dangerous beasts, but a witcher is not just some run-of-the-mill adventure seeker. In a bloody battle whose echoes could be heard throughout all of Velen, Geralt killed the old arachas queen and put an end to her vile line.
