An Unpaid Debt Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Quest

Suggested level: 15

Group: Secondary Quests

Location: Skellige

This quest will only be available if the "Stranger in a Strange Land" quest has been completed with the help of Simon Brambling. If this happened, then you will meet Simun Brambling at the Kaer Trolde Harbor some time later. He will want you to repay your debt.

Geralt was only able to escape from Madman Lugos' prison thanks to the help of a mysterious old man called Simun Brambling. It was he who convinced the guard to let Geralt out, warning Geralt first that he would one day demand a favor in return. Geralt had managed to forget about the whole incident - but not Simun. The old man found Geralt and demanded he repay his debt.

Quest stages of An Unpaid Debt

1. Meet with Simun in the hut by the lake.

Travel to the hut by the lake to the northwest of Blandare. You will meet Simun there arguing with a man named Volund. Soon it will turn out that Simun wants you to kill Volund. Volund will tell you that he was hunting for Simun because he swore him revenge for betraying and killing his brother.

Meet with Simun in the hut by the lake.

2. Kill Simun. / Kill Simun's enemy.

You will have limited time to decide what to do.

  • Outta the question. I'm no murderer. - You will be attacked by Simun (13) and you will have to kill him. After the fight, Volund will thank you for saving him and this quest will be over.

Geralt decided he'd rather stain his honor than spill the blood of an innocent man. Simun did not accept this excuse and decided to kill Geralt alongside his age-old rival. The old warrior underestimated the witcher, however, and after a short fight he died from wounds delivered by the witcher's blade.

  • Nothing personal, just paying a debt. - You will have to kill Volund (14) and the other warrior (14). Once you've dealt with them, you'll talk to Simun and the quest will be over.

Geralt did what Simun demanded - he killed a man who had done him no wrong. As you can see, dear reader, at times one must act dishonorably in order to maintain one's honor.
