Faction: Freestar Collective
Prerequisites: To play this mission, you must first complete the mission First to Fight, First to Die.
This is the last in a series of missions you carry out for the Freestar Collective and it starts automatically after completing the "First to Fight, First to Die" mission. In this mission, a confrontation with the mastermind responsible for what happened takes place.
Return to Valo System > Polvo, and land at Hopetown.
My investigation into the activities of the mercenary group called the First has led me to HopeTech founder Ron Hope. The First's leader, Major Paxton Hull, had evidence that Hope hired the First to seize farmland. Now it's time to learn Hope's plans and bring him to justice.
Enter the building and find Ron Hope. Talk to him and show him the disk and you will find out why he acted as he did. Depending on how you handle the conversation with him, different endings will be possible.
1. You can accept the bribe he offers you. You will then get enriched by 20,000 credits.
2. If you want to report what he has done to the authorities, he will try to convince you not to do it for the sake of his employees. If you choose "For your employees' sake, I'll keep your secret, but your scheme ends now." from the options that come up, you will keep what you learn about him to yourself.
3. The last solution is to attack him.
If you decided to attack Ron then you will have to kill him, Cosette and the additional two guards.
When you get rid of all the opponents then talk to Birgit, who is hiding somewhere nearby.
If the confrontation with Ron went peacefully that is, if you agreed to keep his secret or accepted the bribe he offered:
The confrontation with Ron Hope is over. He agreed to end his scheme and find another way to save his company that won't endanger the citizens of the Freestar Collective. Now it's time to report back to Marshal Blake.
If you killed Ron:
The confrontation with Ron Hope is over. He tried to have me killed, and paid for that mistake with his life. Now it's time to report back to Marshal Blake.
To complete this mission, return to Cheyenne, land in Akila City, and go to meet Sheriff Blake at The Rock. If you agreed to keep Hope's secret or accepted a bribe from him, you will only be able to lie.
If you decided to kill Ron Hope, you will have to show Sheriff Blake the "Details of the Arrangement" to prove that Hope was behind everything.
Regardless of what you decided to do you will be made a Freestar Ranger and receive the same rewards: 150 XP, Credits, Freestar Ranger Badge, Justifier (Rifle), Ranger Duelwear (Apparel), Ranger Skip Pack (Packs), Ranger Space Helmet, Ranger Spacesuit, Star Eagle-class Starship.
The threat of the First is over. In a desperate bid to cut costs and save his company, HopeTech founder Ron Hope hired the First mercenaries to seize farmland so he could use an experimental fertilizer to boost the soil's mineral content. In the end, the conspiracy cost him his life.
