To begin this mission you must go to the saloon in the Van Horn Trading Post and talk to Miss Marjorie. Miss Marjorie tries to find out from her companion, mentally handicapped man named Bertram, where the third member of their team is hiding, but he doesn't want to tell her. During the conversation, Bertram, will try to choke the bartender and you will have to take action.
Two members of a traveling sideshow, Bertram and Marjorie, are found arguing about the disappearance of another member of their troop in the Van Horn saloon. After intervening, a fight breaks out with Bertram.

Objectives of The Smell of the Grease Paint
1. Subdue Bertram
Beat Bertram in a fistfight.
When you defeat him, he will apologize for his actions and Miss Marjorie will finally convince him to reveal where the third member of their band, Magnifico, is hiding. Miss Marjorie will ask you to find him and then they both will leave the saloon.
2. Find Magnifico
Magnifico set up his camp in the woods to the southwest.
After a short conversation with you, dissatisfied with the fact that you found him, he will begin to run away.
Magnifico, the missing member of a sideshow act, uses some tricks to evade capture as he flees through the woods.
3. Chase after Magnifico / Search in the smoke for Magnifico
Follow the clouds of colored smoke until you reach the river.
Magnifico has crossed over to the other side so you have to do it too.
When Magnifico creates three clouds of colorful smoke, you will have to check what's inside them. Just walk into those clouds.
4. Chase after Magnifico / Search the clearing for Magnifico / Approach the Magnifico
Magnifico will continue to run away, creating more colored clouds of smoke. Follow them until you reach the clearing.
Search the clearing and you will find Magnifico sitting on one of the trees.
5. Chase after Magnifico
After a while Magnifico will disappear again and, just like before, you have to follow the clouds of colorful smoke. After some time you will reach the railway tracks where a train will be just passing by.
Somehow the Magnifico will get to the other side of the tracks and you will have to wait a while until the train passes.
Unluckily for Magnifico, on the other side of the tracks, he'll run straight into the wagon that Marjorie and Bertram are driving and the chase will end.
In the beginning Magnifico will be resisting but in the end Marjorie will be able to convince him to rejoin them.
At the end, before they leave, Marjorie will thank you for your help and suggest you to see their show while you are in Saint Denis.
