This mission will be available only if your honor is high enough (honor bar filled in ~75%). You will then be able to find and talk to Mrs. Downes, who works as a prostitute in Annesburg.
When Arthur asks her about her son, she tells him that Archie works in a mine where he is harassed by a local foreman. Arthur decides to go and help him.
Edith Downes tells Arthur that her son, Archie, is working at the Annesburg Mine. Arthur heads to the mine, to find Archie being goaded by the foreman, Mr. Dockery.

Prior missions
To begin Do Not Seek Absolution I you must first complete A Fork in the Road.
Objectives of Do Not Seek Absolution I
1. Go to the mine
To earn the gold medal in this mission, you must complete it in no more than 1 minute and 20 seconds so get to your horse and ride to the mine entrance as fast as you can. You can also run there by taking a shortcut between buildings. When you get there, you'll see a foreman and other miners tormenting Archie.
Arthur will demand that they leave Archie alone, which will lead to a confrontation between him and the foreman. The foreman and another of the miners will try to beat Arthur.
2. Beat up the mine foreman
To stay within the time limit, focus only on the fight against the foreman. Try to avoid fighting the other miner completely.
When the foreman is beaten, Arthur will give Archie some money and recommend that he and his mother leave the city. Your honor will go up and the mission will end.
After completing Do Not Seek Absolution I you will get or will be able to get Do Not Seek Absolution II.
