You will be able to start this mission if at the end of A Rage Unleashed mission you agreed to talk to and help Rains Fall. Then you should go to the Wapiti Indian Reservation and visit the chief in his tent.
Arthur visits Rains Fall in Wapiti and they travel to a sacred Native American site in the East Grizzlies.

To begin Archeology for Beginners you must first complete A Rage Unleashed.
Objectives of Archeology for Beginners
1. Follow Rains Fall
Rains Fall wants you to go somewhere with him. When you leave the tent, Captain Monroe will join you to give the chief some information.
Captain Monroe has no good news for the chief and therefore needs the help of someone not connected to the tribe. He will ask you if it could be you. You can agree or refuse. If you agree, your honor will increase and after completing this mission you will be able to meet him and do another mission with him - Honor, Amongst Thieves.
The captain will go his way and you and the chief will continue your journey. At some point you'll come across a pack of wolves feasting on a horse. Don't shoot, there's no need to.
During the ride you will be able to talk to the chief on various subjects or remain silent. On the way the chief will stop twice and get off the horse to collect herbs that will help to strengthen you and then he will put them in your horse's sacks. Wait for him on your horse until he's ready to continue each time.
Eventually, you'll reach the burnt teepee. Rains Fall will say that the ceremonial pipe, Chanupa, which was kept here is missing and ask you to help him find it.
2. Search the area for clues / Investigate the clue near Rains Fall
You can use Eagle Eye to look around for clues.
Keep examining the clues, and they' ll be mostly empty bottles, or just wait until the chief does it himself and at some point he will call you to the place from which you will see the smoke coming from the camp in the valley.
3. Investigate the smoke stack near the cliff edge
Come to the edge. Arthur will pull out his binoculars and look through them towards the camp.
4. Get to the camp / Search the camp for the sacred items / Retrieve the sacred items
To earn the gold medal in this mission you need to recover the relics in 1 minute and 30 seconds, and in addition, get into the soldier's camp and leave it without being detected.
Note: It's not required but instead of looking for clues around the burnt teepee, you can use this time to call your horse and bring it to the path leading down to the camp. You will then be able to jump on it quickly and get to the camp in the valley a bit faster. It will save you a few precious seconds.
Get on your horse and get off the hill, and get off the horse before you get spotted. On the minimap you will see where the soldiers are and which way they are looking. Approach the camp from the side of the hill (north-east). Watch out for the soldier who's patrolling the camp here.
Go between the tents. A soldier sitting in a tent on the right should not notice you.
Artifacts lie on the ground in the central part of the camp. You can sneak there and take them even though drunken soldiers will be sitting right next to you but they'll be turned their backs on you and they'll be busy talking.
Then leave the camp and go back to the chief without being noticed.
5. Return to Rains Fall
Still being careful not to be noticed by the soldiers, go back to the Rains Fall who is waiting for you by the burnt teepee.
The Chief will be grateful to you for recovering the sacred object and will give you the Owl Feather Trinket. It permanently reduce health, stamina and Dead Eye core drain speed by 15%.
After completing Archeology for Beginners you will get or will be able to get Honor, Amongst Thieves.
