Lita's Notes I

I fight because Antón Castillo is fucking up our country. I fight because he's throwing people I love into slave camps to die. I fight because we're better than this. My voice, all our voices, deserve to be heard. Clara García is putting everything on the line to free us - and I stand with her. My name is Lita and I fight for Yara. Will you?

Lita's Notes II

Julio,

I'm off to Esperanza to say goodbye to my idiot friends. They're finally doing it. Running from Yara. It'll just be you and me then. How many of these letters have we left for each other? You better be keeping them, so when we're old and fat we can remember how hot and stupid we were. The first one I left you told you this was just a hook-up. Just two lonely people doing what two lonely people do. Didn't mean a fucking thing. Same with the second, the third, and the fourth. I should have known, I just couldn't stay away. Love you forever Julio. Mean it.

Take a breath. You've made it this far. You trusted your life to Libertad and we got you out of Esperanza. But what now? Your life is yours. You don't have to pick up a gun and join the battle, there are a hundred ways to fight. You can pass a message. Hide a wounded guerrilla. Tell Libertad when soldiers pass by. Even just take in and feed a refugee from Esperanza. My name is Lita and I was like you, scared and sick with relief all at the same time. Do what I did, pay it forward. Nobody's free until we're all free.
