State Histories I
Defender of the Catholic church and savior of souls, San Miguel is among the most famous and noble of the saints. In Yara's past, the deviant Triada cult worshipped one of their demonic spirits in the guise of San Miguel so their masters would not discover their heresy. Thus all adherents to the true Catholic faith must be ever watchful like the archangel himself.
Prayer to San Miguel: "San Miguel the archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly hosts, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world, seeking the ruin of souls. Amen."
State Histories II
This cannon once protected the coastline of Esperanza for the Spanish Crown. Legend says it was forged from the melted-down manacles of slaves, although modern metallurgy has identified the source of the cast iron as Germany. It has been restored as a symbol of foreign oppression.
State Histories III
This site marks the location of a former cotton plantation owned by Gofredo Bezos, whose 250 African slave laborers tended these grounds and reaped the cotton which built a successful textile franchise in Yara for their master.
The living and working conditions were harsh, with little food or water provided to the workers and only one bathroom break allowed per day. Bezos was known as a cruel taskmaster whose mistreatment and exploitation of his workers was unparalleled.
Thankfully, this sad chapter in Yaran history is over, and all True Yarans under Castillo now enjoy peace, harmony, and equality.
State Histories IV
This Spanish fort was commissioned by General Diego Caballero in 1702 to serve as a protective measure against any foreign incursion into Esperanza Bay. It successfully protected the capital many times, against such threats as the Dutch, the Portuguese, and even the infamous Spanish pirate lord Ignacio Corso, a.k.a. "El Calavera".
One of many preserved historical Spanish sites in Yara, Escila Fort serves as a constant reminder for all True Yarans that our strength, unity, and vision will stand for all time.
State Histories V
The leader of the native Taíno people, Apito-Bara was a chieftain (known as a "cacique") who led a doomed and misguided rebellion against Christopher Columbus, who arrived on Yaran shores on a mission of peace. This conflict, called the Taíno-Spanish War, resulted in many unnecessary deaths - including that of Apito-Bara himself, who was ultimately executed by the Spanish in 1512 for wanton violence and murder.
Today, this memorial near a jail cell in Yara's oldest fort stands as a reminder to all True Yarans that peace, justice, and harmony cannot be achieved through bloodshed.
