Maneater Blacktail Quest

Group: Side Quests

Season: Spring

You will be able to start this side quest after completing the quest "There Be Dragons". If you have previously helped Knight, you will start this quest by talking to him - Knight (Spring).

Once again, Yaga met brave Sir Knight with whom she previously worked on getting rid of a certain dragon. The next step of the plan would involve completing a certain contraption by the beast’s cave.

If you helped Rebel before, then of course you will have to talk to him to start this quest - Rebel (Spring).

Once again, Yaga met the ruthless Rebel with whom she previously worked on ridding the land of the mind-corrupting honey. The next step of the plan would involve completing a certain contraption by the will-o’-wisp cave.

Note: To complete this quest you must have crystal arrows. You will unlock the ability to craft them after reaching the autumn lands, during the main quest "The Root of All Confusion".

Eventually you will reach the Cave Entrance / Passage.

4. Move away and shoot the bomb from afar

It didn’t seem like the contraption was of much interest to whoever inhabited the cave... Yaga decided that shooting the bomb would be effective either way.

Or at the very least more effective than idly waiting for something to happen.

Standing at a safe distance, shoot at the deer which will explode and reveal the entrance.

5. Investigate the passage

The explosion revealed the cave to be more of a passage, and its supposed residents were nowhere to be found. It only seemed proper to investigate the newfound opening.

Just go to the other side through the passage that was revealed.

Investigate the passage

6. Investigate the area

Move up the path leading up towards the strange tower.

7. Climb the tower / Investigate the tower

The supposed cave opened up a path to a place long lost. In its center stood a mysterious tower. Yaga felt that the long-awaited answers laid at its very top.

Yet I have to warn you, my dearest reader, that the way up would bring Yaga hardships and challenges beyond the usual. I could have only hoped that she had come armed to the teeth and well prepared.

8. Defeat the mage

And so it became apparent that all of the turmoil was a ruse fabricated by the gnoll mage only to lure Yaga to his tower. Trapped by the wizard’s power, she had to battle the fearsome Drath’Eff Kha.

And quite a battle it would be.

9. Report to Knight

The mage was defeated. But the dreadful recluse spoke of things that seemed of great importance. His mad plans aside, the wizard mentioned an incoming gnoll invasion. That was news far too unsettling to be ignored.

The mushroom needed to know of this as soon as possible.
