The Safecracker Star Wars Outlaws Quest
Group: Main Quests
Planet: Kijimi
"The Safecracker" is one of the quests that you can start after repairing the hyperdrive and leaving Toshara, that is, after completing the "Hyperspace" quest. To start it you need to go to the Kijimi star system, where the planet of the same name is located.
Kay must travel to Kijimi to recruit a safecracker and explosives expert named Ank who should be an essential member of the heist crew.
Prior quests
To begin The Safecracker you must first complete Hyperspace.
Quest stages of The Safecracker
1. Travel to Kijimi.
After arriving in Kijimi's orbit, ND-5 will brief you a bit about the Ashiga Clan that rules the planet and its conflict with Crimson Dawn. Approach the planet and land at the only possible place, which is the Kijimi spaceport. Kijimi is a cold, snow-covered planet.
2. Find Ank.
Step off the ship. A welcoming committee of the Ashiga clan will be waiting for you at the entrance to the city. After discussing the purpose of your visit, they will allow you to enter the city and the Ashiga clan will appear as the fourth of the criminal organizations available in the reputation tab.
Kay is looking for the safecracker named Ank, but Kijimi is deeply affected by a civil war between the ruling Ashiga Clan and Crimson Dawn operatives. It seems like getting Ank out will be complicated.
3. Talk to the bartender.
Head to the Domak Refectory cantina. It is located in the northwestern part of the city.
From the bartender you will learn that Ank was captured by the Ashiga clan and is working off her debt at their factory.
Kay will contact ND-5 by radio. He will suggest to go to Ashiga clan territory and hack the terminal to learn where exactly Ank is being held.
4. Slice a terminal to find Ank.
Since your reputation with the Ashiga clan is poor, you must look for a side entrance into their territory. Use the small passage located to the right of the main entrance guarded by two guards.
When you enter the Ashiga district, the game will provide you with another hint "Look for a building with a radar dish on the roof." Turn towards the south, you should notice the antenna the hint refers to. Head in that direction and climb the stairs.
The square around the building you need to get to is guarded by two clan members. One of them stands at the main door all the time and the other one patrols the area walking around the square. Sometimes he stops for a moment at the end of the square, to the left of the building, and is then facing the wall so you can approach him unnoticed. Next to the place where he stops is the second entrance to the building.
Go around the wall from the left side, approach the guard when he is standing near the wall and knock him down silently. An access card will drop out of him, which you don't need for this quest, but it gives you access to a nearby treasure room, so take it.
Then walk up to the door on the right and use the data spike to unlock it. Step inside.
Approach the computer and slice it to get access to the data. You won't find anything about Ank's whereabouts but you will learn about the artifact stolen by Crimson Dawn.
5. Find a way into the Wellspring.
Leave the clan-controlled area by the same route you came here. The building you need to get to is located in the northeastern part of the city. You won't be allowed in via the main entrance, so you have to look for another way. Proceed to the alley located to the right of the building. At its end you will find a breach in the wall, narrow passage which you can use to get to the back of the building.
At the back of the building you will find the entrance to the ventilation duct. Step inside.
This duct will take you to the kitchen of the Wellspring.
6. Steal the relic.
Open the door and go out of the kitchen into the hall. There is one guard in the hall, so get him quietly or just shoot him, it will not raise the alarm.
Turn right and use data spike to unlock the blue doors. You will enter a large two-level room. The relic you came here for is locked in a force-field protected display case located on the lower level.
In order to turn off the energy barrier protecting the relic, you must get to the control room located on the upper level, on the other side of the big room. You can enter the control room through the door on the right, which can be opened with a data spike, or through the door on the left, which requires a keycard that one of the guards has.
The upper level is guarded by three guards. Two are on the right and one is on the left side. To make your task easier, it's best to eliminate all of them silently.
One of the two guards on the right side stands still, while the other patrols the area by walking around the flowerbed. Wait until the patrolling one stands with his back to you and use Nix to attack one of the guards and then eliminate both of them without using a weapon. If you want, you can also use the stun mode of your blaster.
In your favorite way, as long as it's quiet, you should also eliminate the guard who patrols the upper level on the left side.
You can, but it is not necessary, steal the card needed to open one of the doors to the control room from the guard patrolling the lower level. Use Nix to do this.
There are four guards at the lower level, three humans and a droid. This droid is the most dangerous because it is immune to stunning and stealth knockdowns. When you disable the energy barrier the guards on the lower level will realize that something is wrong, they will start to patrol the area and they will move faster than before which will make it harder for you to move around without being noticed.
Therefore, before you head to the control room, first go down the stairs to the lower floor and silently take down at least one of the guards there. The easiest way will be to neutralize the guard located on the right side after going down the stairs. Ideally, you should wait for him to move and knock him down in a place where the droid will not notice his corpse.
You can also use the stun mode of your blaster and shoot one of the guards from the upper floor. The droid will probably notice the corpse and enter a state of high alert. Stay hidden, and after a while everything should return to normal.
When you are ready for the next step, enter the control room, access the computer that is there and override the security and disable the force field.
To eliminate another guard, you can hide near the stairs and whistle when a guard passes nearby to lure him to you and then knock him down.
When all humans are out and you are left with the droid alone, just wait until it moves away somewhere, sneak up to the artifact and take it. If the droid notices you and attacks you, don't forget to switch the blaster to Ion mode.
7. Escape from the Wellspring.
Leave the room through the corridor on the lower level.
After a while you will reach a door leading outside. Be prepared that when you go outside you will be attacked and the inevitable shooting will ensue.
Quickly take cover and start shooting at the enemies in the courtyard. Two are hiding behind boulders and one a little further away, behind a column. Be prepared that they may throw grenades in your direction. If they do, then of course you must be quick to move away.
When all three opponents in this part of the courtyard are dead then move to the next section. On the boulder you will pass by you can find a better weapon - JND-41 Percussive Cannon.
Move forward and take cover behind another wall. This time there will be four opponents. To eliminate them you can use the blaster rifle that lies on the wall you can hide behind.
The guy who is hiding on the other side can be eliminated by shooting at the red barrel standing nearby.
Once you get rid of all the enemies, use the data spike to open the door leading to the bathhouse.
Step inside, turn left and open the entrance to the ventilation duct. This duct will take you outside, to the city.
8. Return the relic to the queen.
The palace of the Ashiga clan is located in the south of the city. You can't use the fast travel option, so go there on foot. When you get there, you'll be stopped by guards, but after a short conversation, when they hear what the purpose of your visit is, you'll be able to go inside.
Keep walking forward and eventually you will get to the chamber where you will meet the queen. A cutscene will start. Kay and the queen make a deal, if Kay agrees to work with the Ashiga clan, they will let Ank go free.
Your reputation with the Ashiga clan will increase significantly and reach the "good" level and for obvious reasons, your reputation with Crimson Dawn will significantly drop. This quest will end and another main quest will begin - Gunsmith.
After completing The Safecracker you will get or will be able to get Gunsmith.
